Would you consider a fairly unusual holiday? Last August we hired a boat on the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal in Wales for a week. It's a great way to wind down, cruising slowly along the canal while enjoying the scenery and getting used to life on board. Although they are called narrow boats (they have to be as the canals themselves are narrow too) you will find all the comforts. Our tribute to the Sycamore Gap tree which was cut down unlawfully recently. The tree stood in an impressive dip next to Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland and is said to have been one of the most photographed trees in England. The tree featured in a key scene near the beginning of the 1991 Kevin Costner film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and has subsequently become known as the "Robin Hood Tree". The photos were taken on our 'Walk Hadrian's Wall Highlights' tour with Intrepid Travel in July 2022. It was reported to be between 200 and 300 years old.
