In Malta, food is about culture, comfort, and community, all rolled into the perfect, flaky pastry. Pastizzi are Malta’s iconic snack: crisp layers filled with either creamy ricotta or spiced mashed peas, this is a ritual that brings locals together, from hurried mornings to late-night cravings.

Thought to have Mediterranean influences, pastizzi took on a life of their own here, becoming Malta’s go-to comfort food. At the pastizzeria, it’s not just about pastizzi, you’ll also find qassatat, thick-crusted pies stuffed with spinach or tuna, and ħobż biż-żejt, a hearty bread packed with tomatoes, olives, and capers.
