Gharb is a gem. Upon arriving to Gozo, the difference is immediately palpable. It is greener, quieter, and has an intangible feeling of detachment from it all. It is no wonder that Gozo is a communal spot for artists and creatives. It is inspirational.
But Gharb! Gharb is the peacefulness within the peacefulness. Located on the north-western side of the island, it is considered as quiet and relaxing even by the Gozitans themselves. The village is small but very functional, with a couple of good restaurants and all the amenities. The magic starts in the morning, with the bird-songs welcoming the new day. A 10-minute walk leads out of the village and into the beautiful countryside through cliffs, valleys and the inevitable scent of the sea. Dwejra is only a short distance away, still mesmerising notwithstanding the recent loss of the azure window, and the sunsets are difficult to beat.
The evening is quiet - almost deafeningly so. It is easy to get lost in the peacefulness, and that is exactly how it should be.
We look forward to welcoming you to our little corner of peace. A 500 year old traditional Gozitan farmhouse worth the exploration. We are told it used to belong to the village chaplain, possibly the most important figure at the time. It has now been converted into a quaint and comfortable residence, with a large kitchen to satisfy our love for food, and a lovely heated indoor pool just in case Gharb itself is not relaxing enough.
