This was the Feast of Marsascala of 2019 before covid while we were still enjoying the traditional village feasts. This year 2022, all back to normal, looking forward for the 31st July.

Malta has always been regarded as an island of strategic importance due to its central position in the Mediterranean and naturally sheltered harbours. ​
​
A symbolic monument known as the Triton Fountain was put up in front of the capital city's latest entrance to commemorate this very fact. It is the work of Vincent Apap and Victor Anastasi and consists of three bronze mermen bearing the weight of a large plate. It was inspired by the Fontana delle Tartarughe found in Piazza Mattei, Rome, because this is where the sculptors studied art. ​

Triton is a mythological Greek god who is said to be the messenger of the seas, son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, god and goddess of the seas. This reflects upon Malta's close relationship with the Mediterranean throughout its history since prehistoric times. ​
​
