)) Co-Regulation not Co-Dependence ((

Be:Held is an invitation to connect and co-regulate.
But it it very definitely not a space of co-dependence.
The offer to rest and receive is one that comes with an understanding of self responsibility.
This is a space to bring the parts of you that yearn to be held.
Knowing that this act is one of self courage and responsibility.

Together yes
But not in a co-dependent way.

Come, connect and explore letting go with us this Sunday.

)) Rest, Not Collapse ((

Be:Held is an invitation to rest, but not collapse.

You know the difference. One is soft, rich, expansive, deep, roomy and freeing. The other is a place where nothing changes. There is an edge to navigate here and Be:Held invites you into the softer side.

Come, rest and explore letting go with us this Sunday.

Ever heard the phrase, "the only way out is through"?

The same principle applies to letting go.
We have to yield, soften, allow ourselves to connect with the thing we wish to let go of.

And that requires softness - inside and out.
It's why the next Be:Held is taking place on a Sunday, the softest day of the week.

Episode Three of Four of the new season of Embodiment for Overthinkers

Why Overthinking is NOT a problem !

And how we can't THINK our way out of it.

We talk a bit how our lives have influenced our bodies and our nervous system (and how it contributes to overthinking).

And get really simple about some solutions
We start with a lovely meditation
And then dive right in.
I also mention Back to Basics which iyou can still book a place on until Sunday - it is a really short, really sweet, really simple exploration of things we can do that help the busyness of overthinking.

Let me know how this landed?
And the practice worked for you or didn't

)) B Minus 7 ((

No, not an exam result but the countdown to the first Back to Basics Session.

What's it all about you ask?

⚙️ Have you noticed, it's when the wheels have already come off that we realise we’ve overdone it.

🤬 It's when we have already snapped, collapsed or burst into tears that we realise something might need to change.

🍽 It's when we struggle to maintain the energy it takes to keep all the plates spinning that we clock that we may have spread ourselves too thin?

😴 The tiredness is a sign.

🥁 As is the inner critic banging the 'you've done it again!' drum.

🤯 The inner catastrophiser might start running you through all the scenarios and none of them are good.

👉🏼 And then the panicked victim starts playing the "its alright for them, I have it so hard" recording.

💩 And we might just declare defeat and then feel s**tty about it.

🌀 And so it spirals.

I recently ended up here... in the cul de sac of collapse and remembered my route out was NOT through more effort, but less.

Because this is fresh AF for me it felt like a good time to share it.
And because I get that no-one has capacity for big commitments or big spends right now I am doing it on the simple side.

Back to Basics is what I remembered works in this place.

)) Three Trick Pony ((

I'm a three trick pony, honestly.

But they are really good tricks.

So I use variations of them a lot.

They are:

🫁 Breath
🎧 Sound
🕺🏼 Movement

They are at core of my teaching because they are the best ways I know to get out of our heads and back into our bodies to regulate ourselves when we feel all over the shop.

🫁 Breathwork - most of us know we can use the breath to affect our state.
We can look at what happens to our own breath in different states - we all have different patterns - and there are LOADS of breathing techniques we can use to regulate our system in moments of stress

🎧 Sound - we all have a different relationship to making noises, I am not talking about singing out loud (although that can be helpful). Sound can be a really powerful way to get into the body and out of the head, so I often share some noises and notes that can support heightened emotional states.

🕺🏼 Movement - did you know how you hold your body and what you do with your eyes, hands and posture can all help calm a frazzled nervous system. I often share some super simple physical hacks for when things get a little loopy out in the world.

☘️ These three tricks will be woven through the Back to Basics programme that starts later this month - link below.

Because they WORK as a way to access:

✅ more clarity - less thinking‍
✅ more action - less flapping, faffing, procrastinating or grafting‍
❤️ more love - less frustration‍
❤️ more energy - less exhaustion‍

And who doesn't need that?!

)) Underneath Overthinking there is a slightly s**t manager ((

In yesterdays Embodiment for Overthinkers (a free 30 minute teaching about soothing overthinking) we talked about how overthinking is not a problem to fixed but a symptom to be understood.

The first two episodes of this season are about the BIOLOGY of Overthinking.

And the second two will be about how our BIOGRAPHY affects our Overthinking.

So you are just in time to catch the season run.

Yesterday we talked about how:

🧠 We have a brain
⚡️ We have a nervous system which includes that brain
☎️ This nervous system communicates with all other parts of the body.
👁 The nervous system is a manager.
✍🏼 It sends messages and orders.
🤬 It doesn't always take in all the info we need it to.

I think we can all relate to managers like that eh?

Your 'manager' will tell your body to do the same things if there is a Real danger or an Imagined danger

Same deal, no diff.

You manager doesn't care if there is a
🐻 Real bear
or an
🧟 Imagined zombie apocalypse

It will

🤯 Panic and stuck in repeating thought loops (rumination)

🤯 Believe everything is a mess (catastrophising)

🤯 Judge ourselves and others harshly (perfectionism)

🤯 Try harder at something that is not working (over efforting)

🤯 Freeze and not know what to do (procrastination)

All lovely forms of overthinking.

So the solution is to support our over-wraught nervous system (slightly s**t manager) to be stronger and smarter and to remember how to regulate more often.

⁉️ Because who doesn't want a better manager?!

)) Overthinking is not a problem, its a symptom ((

I work a lot with people who are tired of all the thinking.

🥱 Tired of thinking about how we could have done it better.
🥱 Tired of thinking about what he/she said and if it was justified.
🥱 Tired of bouncing ideas around but never making a decision.
🥱 Tired of thinking what others will think.
🥱 Tired of going over and over the same story.
🥱 Tired of ending the day with a thousand thoughts about what has happened/what is coming up.
🥱 Tired of...well... tired of thinking 'too much'.

It's not a surprise then, that we THINK, the answer to all of this might be accessed by THINKING some more.

But what if the OVERTHINKING is not a problem to be fixed.

What if overthinking is a SYMPTOM to be understood.

And what if we work on the ROOT CAUSE, the symptom of overthinking will calm itself in the process.

How about that?

That's the kind of thing I am exploring with overthinkers in my Out of Your Head Community on FB (free to join, link in profile).

And I will be talking about ways to address the CAUSE (hint, it's in the body) over the coming few weeks in Embodiment for Overthinkers (every Friday at 10am CET for the next 4 weeks) and in detail on the Back To Basics programme starting later this month - links in profile.

Come and hang out in there to find out more.

- settle my nervous system
- calm my catasrophising mind
- soothe my inner critic
- help me focus again

and how remembering them makes me able to share them again from a place of deeper learning.

- Simple 5 week teaching
- Super low cost
- Timely

)) Community: Help to Hone ((

If you have been following my work since the start of the year you will know that I was recently focused on launching a 108 day programme called Re:Connect.

The programme was a curation of all I know to move us from self doubt to self trust, from swirling thought mess to deep knowing, from confusion in relationships to clarity, from distraction to focus.

From thinking that the answers are out there to remembering that it all begins in here, connected to ourselves.

I gave it my all and for (likely) several reasons it didn't land.

Because it is my absolute calling to do this work I want to understand WHY it didn't land and WHAT would serve better.

So I am asking for your help with that.

I am posing a series of questions in the Out of Your Head - Support Community for Overthinkers w/ Cat Moyle aimed at crafting something better.

If you are an overthinker or just up in your head a LOT and if you want to be instrumental in crafting something tailor made to suit you sort that out then come over to this corner of the internet.

https://catmoyle.newzenler.com/f/reconnect-community

There is no commitment for coming to have a look/ getting involved and you can leave at any time.

Thank you to everyone for your feedback so far and thank you for your support. It's been really heartwarming to read your responses to yesterdays email and it's how I know we are going to build something beautiful together.

)) Fail we May, Sail we Must ((

I don't know when I first realised, it was possibly on a 3am dance floor in Leeds in '94 or halfway through my first ever amanae session in 2003, or maybe with my first ever breath. But since I realised, it has stayed with me through thick and thin. It is an infinite knowing that the work I feel most deeply connected to is the work of the heart.

The work of reminding us (myself), that it begins here in the heart.

That the heart is our compass and our map.

That truth comes from here.

That it can break a thousand times over, that perhaps it is never not broken, and yet still it is the unshakeable centre of everything.

And slowly, because I am forgetful keep getting distracted by other things, slowly I am orienting everything I do to this central focus.

And people would have you believe that this is all it takes, that success will reign supreme as soon as you start working with what you 'know', as soon as you are 'aligned'. Well that advice has been misleading. It's not that linear.

At the start of 2022 I poured my heart + soul into creating, curating, crafting an offering so aligned that it made me feel buoyant every time I thought about it. It was lush. And I spent weeks talking about it. I was sure it would be a success because it was aligned. And then no-one wanted it. At least no-one I was in contact with. And it broke my heart a little.

And here is what I can also connect to from this place. Here's what is emerging, spiralling up as a smoke signal from the ashes.

Here is what I know.

It doesn't matter. It's still the right work. Keep going.

It's reminding me of the nautical expression co-opted by the late (great) Andrew Weatherall, "Fail we may, sail we must"

And it is helping me understand what the next step is supposed to be.

So I am regrouping, consulting with my people (you) + preparing to create something new, still oriented to the heart but this time with a little more understanding of how to align my knowing to yours.

Hi love
A few people have asked for a longer payment plan.

So here we are making one right now - it'll be ready by this evening.

Here's a little video message about it.

If you want to join re:connect but can't cover the one off payment or the 4 monthly payments, here is a 9 month option that works out at just £120 per month.
It's the same overall cost, just split over a longer plan.
You get the same content
For the same amount of time (a year in total)
Same same, but longer to pay for it.

Thank you to those of you who asked for this.
You have made it available to those who didn't ask yet but wanted it.

RE:CONNECT | To Community - Meet Cat P!

Today I am talking to a woman I only met about a year and a half ago but won I count amongst my closest.

As I got to know Cat I realised she is a community builder as well as a warm hearted, straight talking, strong and soft Northern lass.

Today we talk about love, the body, community and connection.

Cat Percival is an award winning wellbeing specialist with community at the heart of every thing she does. She has been featured in High Life North Magazine and in 2020 the Spirit of North Tyneside Award was created and presented to Cat, to honour the way she created supportive communities in a variety of environments (on and offline) during possibly the most isolating year the current world has experienced.

Cat uses the acts of gathering, talking and practicing yoga to nurture those that work with her. She believes there is so much power and solidarity in sharing our stories and experience of life with others. Bringing all these pieces together creates the magic feeling of being part of a community that matters.

Cat will be teaching on Re:Connect and I know you are going to love what she brings.

Meet The Community Builder - Cat Percival.

A BIG thing happened through 2020 and 2021.
I learned I DO NOT have to do it all alone.
So when I was putting Re:Connect together, I decided to action that learning and build a team.
Cat P was one of the women that helped me hold my s**t together during the last 15 months.
She is a wonderful woman and natural community builder.
Since part of the work of Re:Connect (in the final phase) is to work on what we want to bring out to the world, to our communities, to those around us it made absolute sense to ask Cat to teach to this.

So on 1st March at 10am UK / 11am CET we will be in conversation about reconnection and community.

Come and Join us... ❤️

Re:Connect | To Some Ancient Wisdom with Michelle Bartolo Yoga

Today I have the deeeeep pleasure of talking to Michelle Bartolo about her experience of yoga, kundalini practices, and (most importantly) applying these to life!

Every damn day I learn something new from this woman and am very excited she is teaching on the Re:Connect programme (Links below, PS early bird offer ends tomorrow)

Michelle has been in the fitness & health industry for 30 years now and is fascinated by the human mind/body. Her yoga journey began when she noticed she was going way off balance - off to Rishikesh, India she went in 2010 into an Ashram to do her 500hr Teacher Training in Transformational Yoga. Since then Michelle offers retreats, privates, classes and 200 hr teacher trainings on an international level.

Michelles classes are inspired by the Kundalini tradition which she has been practicing since 2010 and teaching for the past 8 years. Kundalini works very close to the nervous system on a subtle level and unpacks whatever we may have stored in our physical bodies both mentally & emotionally.

Expect soft and gentle wisdom and straight talking x

Come and Re:Connect with us and share some of you own stories

)) The Embodiment Convert - Nora Sorensen ((

Today I have the deeeeeelight of talking to Nora Sorensen on my FB Live about her journey with embodiment and her favourite thing about this work.

I have worked with Nora and had the pleasure of her participating in some of my programmes. She is ALWAYS an engaged and lively presence ❤️

Nora hosts self discovery events in collaboration with artists/facilitators that bring new ways of relating and understanding ourselves and others.

She created her now famous Monday Club Online for the curious to try something new regularly in an informal and playful setting.

She is now ALSO helping others to have stress free birthday experiences.

Nora's hosting skills are from her grandmother who was insanely organised, the joy for life that she was born with, her childhood trauma and her experience in hospitality and that is why her events are deeply personal and authentic.

Expect a red lip and lots of laughter and honesty ❤️

You can find out more about Nora at www.norasevents.com

Come and Re:Connect with us and share some of you own stories of The Body, Connection and Love.

The tendency to resist

And How
Slowing down and paying attention can be great ways to figure things out.

And I invite you to
Notice if you are curious, and then follow that.

There is a reason I am offering up the Free Love Retreat and the follow up work of Re:Connect now.

The nature of things around us
And our nature.
And me trying to work with that to give us the easiest time possible.

)) Rest is Challenging ((

As the wheels of 2021 started to slow down I began to put in place what I needed to take a break...

✏️ Scheduling some social media posts
✏️ Sending out final emails for the year
✏️ Writing my out of office
✏️ Sorting out my accounts
✏️ Clearing my diary

And noticed that I did NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE AT ALL.

I am happy when the wheels are spinning;
When things are getting done;
On deeper reflection, I can tell you that rest does not feel that safe to me.
When I am being 'useful'.

On deeper reflection I can tell you that rest does not feel that safe to me.

Hence my preference for avoiding it.

And I know I am not alone.

Many of the overthinkers in my community are over-efforters too.
We KNOW that rest is medicine
But choosing rest comes with this challenge:

Anything that has become habitual, anything that has become a preference or pattern, takes effort and energy to repattern.

This effort involves acknowledging why we have been avoiding something and coming gently, lovingly, compassionately to face it.

Rest can be hard for some of us.
So I am dedicating January to exploring rest.
To unpacking why it can be hard, and sharing ways to make it easier.

Join me on Friday for Embodiment for Over-thinkers in the Out of Your Head Facebook Community to explore with me.

We can learn to;
🕯 Rest well for ourselves
🕯 Rest well for our relationships
🕯 Rest well for our purpose and passion
🕯 Rest well for our lives.

Much love
