Our Story
Heavens door is a tranquil and eclectic guest house in the old fishing village of Fontana in Gozo, Malta’s smaller and quieter sister island. This home is a 300 year old house of character which boasts 2 luxury rooms - Gabriels room which has an en suite bathroom which is up some internal stairs in the room and a private balcony and AC. Our other luxury room, Peters room has a very special private bathroom next to the room with a Victorian bathtub. Our budget room - the blue room is a small, compact studio with an open plan bathroom and separate entrance with AC and a little table outside the room in the alleyway. All rooms come with a kettle, toaster and fridge. Our rooms are tastefully furnished with Egyptian cotton sheets and the decor is individually styled for each room. A kettle, toaster and fridge are provided and all rooms have AC. The house is furnished using a mix of typical furniture brought back to life by local artists and the house owners’ love for steampunk art (metal being a favourite medium) and African art reflecting their african heritage as well as other artistic influences such as the Burning Man. A lot of the installations found in our home are made by local genius artist Spyke Von Strype.
We are ideally located 15 minute walk to Xlendi beach and a 10 minute walk from Victoria the capital where the Citadella is situated.. This makes it perfect to spend nice afternoons on the beach and mornings exploring the rest of Gozo with the islands main bus terminus being in walking distance.
There is a plunge pool and chill out area on the second floor for those lazy vacation days. A welcome food basket is provided for you in your fridge in your room. In the rooms one can also find a toaster, tea & coffee making facilities allowing you to prepare your own breakfast and light snacks at your own leisure. Enjoy your breakfast on your balcony or out on our porch while watching daily Gozitan life.
We love to tell you all about the secret non touristy spots on Gozo that are a bit more off the beaten track and provide you with plenty information in your room. We always recommend renting a scooter for at least a day so you can visit the more difficult to access places.
