HOW GAY-FRIENDLY IS THE MALDIVES?

If you're in the mainland capital of Male, you'll find that alcohol is banned and public displays of affection are not advised, especially for same-sex couples. However, different rules apply in the Maldives resorts. You'll find same-sex couples are welcome with open arms.

USEFUL ADVICE FOR LGBT TOURISTS:

Fortunately, most resorts in The Maldives are quite literally a world apart from the above and are fairly safe for gay, le***an and bisexual travellers. In fact, it is not unusual to see same-sex couples celebrating their honeymoon at the many private island resorts.
