Hafsy Abdulla is a well-known figure in the Maldivian media industry, having traveled to 15 different countries. However, his most memorable journey was the trip to Mecca 🕋& Madina 🕌, Saudi Arabia.

Among all the countries he has visited, none compare to his experience in Mecca & Madina. His coverage of that trip garnered widespread recognition, earning him praise from the public and positive feedback for his reports and interviews. The content he produced during this visit resonated with many people.

Hafsy took a deep interest in covering the April 2024 Umrah pilgrimage as a media personality. He noticed the enthusiasm that people had for Umrah and embraced the journey with passion and excitement, never feeling tired or bored.

Reflecting on his experience, Hafsy said, "I don’t know how long I was staring at the Kaaba 🕋 with the crowd around me. The view from my hotel room was mesmerizing, and I found myself speechless as I stood there." It was a moment he will never forget.

Hafsy graduated from Male English School (MES) in 2002 and began his career as a waiter. However, he soon transitioned to journalism, which became his true calling. He had shown a passion for media from an early age, publishing a school newspaper during his studies. In 2003, he joined Aafathis News as a journalist, and since then, media has become an integral part of his life. Hafsy's achievements include the Youth Award in 2015 and the National Award in 2016. He also received the Golden Pen award. Hafsy holds a Master's degree in Media and Communication.

Hafsy believes that once you've visited Mecca for Umrah, you'll want to return often. He feels that fulfilling the pilgrimage independently, without relying on others, is a deeply satisfying experience.

Beyond his journalism work, Hafsy is also known for his dedication to volunteering and promoting awareness through various campaigns. His coverage of events like the 2008 SAFF Championship and his report on the 2004 tsunami, in collaboration with UNDP, are significant highlights of his career. Hafsy’s work with visually impaired individuals in media projects is also noteworthy.

During his Umrah trip with the Qibla team, Hafsy demonstrated his energy and enthusiasm as a journalist. He is a friendly person, well-liked by many who joined him on this journey. As a friend to many who have spent their lifetime savings on this spiritual trip, Hafsy's approachable and warm personality has endeared him to those he meets along the way.
