Malawi is famous as the “Warm Heart of Africa,” and rightly so. This beautiful southeastern African country is known for its warm and happy people. You wouldn’t be mistaken to assume that one of the main sources of happiness for the Malawian people is their amazing cuisine; from breakfast to festive dishes, sampling the foods in Malawi is a must.
Malawian cuisine is one of the few cuisines on the African continent to have remained relatively traditional. Many African countries have their cuisine influenced by foreign gastronomy. Malawi is one of the very few African countries to have kept it rather local.

MALAWIAN NSIMA (Maize Porridge)
Widely considered the national dish of Malawi, this is one food that is enjoyed by every household in the country. The Malawian people believe nsima helps them strengthen their bonds as a family. Nisma is a corn flour-based porridge meal that is usually enjoyed as lunch or dinner.

NYIKA NATIONAL PARK -Chelinda Lodge

Nestled in the highlands of Nyika National Park, Chelinda Lodge is a 16-bedded exclusive classic camp that lies against a magnificent backdrop of towering pine trees. Situated high on the plateau, the eight luxuriously appointed chalets offer panoramic views of woodland patches, rolling plains and montane grasslands (often dotted with herds of antelope).

Nyika National Park is one of Malawi’s most scenic and spectacular wilderness areas. It boasts an incredible mixture of scenery and landscapes – pristine brachystegia woodlands, mature mountain forest patches, crystal clear running streams and miles and miles of open rolling grasslands.

Leopard sightings are common on the plateau as well as sightings of Burchell’s zebra, roan antelope, reedbuck, eland, bushbuck, warthog, bush pig, spotted hyena, side-striped jackal and serval. Birdlife is prolific with over 400 species inhabiting the plateau. The park is also one of the best places to see leopard in Malawi.

This is Chikala / Malape Pillars

Located at the skirts of the Chikala Hills in Machinga district, Chikala Pillars are mysterious and beautiful sandstone pillars created by erosion and gullying.

It is also known as Malape Pillars by locals.

Some people call it ‘Malawian Canyon’ as it looks like the Grand Canyon of the United States.
Although the place is not as well-known as Mount Mulanje or Liwonde National parks, these amazing formations are worth a look
