Great to see the last chance for Michiru Sanctuary to survive. Enjoy September the Tourism Month!

September is Malawi's Tourism Month and we are presenting to you Michiru Sanctuary Birding. This is the last hope of a natural habitat in Blantyre. We got more than 60 species of birds regardless of being very dry month.

If you have struggled to have good sightings of Peter's Twinspots and Pennant winged Nightjars elsewhere, come to Michiru Sanctuary they are very common, so tempting keeping your eyes in Binoculars and telescopes enjoying the beautiful birds.

We also saw Yellow Baboons, Vervet Monkeys, Common Dicker.

Was also nice to see the effort of DNPW Rangers have to protect this Sanctuary, arresting those who do not follow the already ways put in place for communities to harvest forest resources sustainably. Witnessed a very strong Team of Rangers and I hope Michiru Sanctuary is having the last chance to survive now.

However the facilities which were in place need to be maintained, eg some picnic spots, Vehicles sitting unfixed at office etc

Let's protect Michiru Sanctuary from deforestation!

People come from far and they ask where can we watch birds near Blantyre???

Michiru Sanctuary is the nearest birding spot.
