Northern Region Water Board

The Northern Region Water Board (NRWB) is a Parastatal Organisation that was established in 1996 under the Waterworks Act, Cap 72:01 of the Laws of Malawi. The core mandate of the NRWB is to provide potable water supply and waterborne sanitation services to urban, peri-urban, and market centers in the Northern Region of Malawi.

The NRWB seeks to recruit suitably qualified persons to fill the following temporary positions:

TEMPORARY PLUMBERS (GRADE RANGE FROM A3-A1:) SIX POSITIONS
Duties and responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Plumbing Supervisor or Scheme Coordinator the Temporary Plumber shall be responsible for the following job duties among others:
• Carrying out new water connections according to the Board’s standards and laid down procedures.
• Participating in leakage control programmes.
• Carrying out maintenance of plumbing works.
• Carrying out main laying for new projects and service line extensions according to specified standards.
• Advising the Scheme Coordinator or Plumbing Supervisor on improvements to the existing water supply system.
• Ensuring that all water supply connections conform to the Board’s bye-laws and other rules and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Malawi School Certificate of Education or its equivalent.
• Grade I National Trade Test Certificate or Level Three TEVET Certificate or Malawi Craft Certificate in Plumbing.

Terms and Conditions
The Board shall offer an attractive package (commensurate with qualifications and experience) which includes salary, medical insurance, water allowance, and membership to a Contributory Group Pension Scheme.

Partners in Hope (PIH) was established in 2004 by Dr. Perry Jansen, an American Family Physician, and a group of committed Malawian professionals to address the devastating HIV and AIDS epidemic in Malawi.

PIH Medical Center formally opened in November 2005, with Dalitso Private Clinic, Pharmacy, Laboratory and Tiyanjane Counselling Center.

PIH Medical centre has expanded and now has inpatient, surgical, dialysis, ICU and HDU services. PIH’s strategy arose from close engagement with the Ministry of Health early in the process of developing and implementing successful scale up of antiretroviral therapy (ART).

Our programs are in three main areas i.e. Health Service Delivery, Medical Education and Research, and Capacity Building. Our comparative advantage among others include the cutting-edge diagnostic work, local ownership of the vision and the holistically client centered approach which has set us apart from other service providers in the health sector.
The program unit provides support to Ministry of Health and CHAM health facilities in nine districts from Chitipa to Nsanje. Teams are working to meet the 95-95-95 targets for HIV testing, retention in care and viral load suppression through training, mentorship, supervision and health systems strengthening.

NURSE (5) – LILONGWE

JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Matron, this position involves providing hands-on care to patients as directed by a physician, clinical officer, or lead nurse. The nurse will administer medications, manage intravenous lines, observe and monitor patient conditions, and maintain accurate records. This role requires working shift schedules, including both day and night shifts.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assess and manage patients using the SOAPIE format.
Document patient information

Support patients with daily living activities.
Ensure a conducive work environment for patients and staff.

Provide health education to patients and guardians.

Conduct group or individual counseling sessions (e.g., ART, nutrition, psychosocial support).

Attend in-service training sessions.
Supervise patient attendants and cleaners within the department.

Those with hands on experience in ICU and/or dialysis will have an added advantage.

Job Title: WASH COORDINATOR
Department: Programs
Job Summary: The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Coordinator will provide technical leadership of WASH programs.
Reports To: Programs Manager
Supervises: WASH Officers
Main Responsibilities

Knowledge development, partnership and networking
Ensure compliance of WASH grants to donor requirements and timely communicate challenges/constraints/opportunities to senior management.
Identify priority operational research problems and participate in ensuring high quality evaluation of WASH projects.
Contribute towards project proposals, guiding principles, mandates, standards, developmental and collaborative framework for disaster risk reduction and response country programs so that initiatives are aligned with Habitat’s mission and receive effective coordination and support by the Habitat global network.
Contribute to active partnerships development and cooperation with other organizations through linkages with sector stakeholders
Developing and maintaining productive relationships between national office staff, field staff, consultants, and other relevant actors in WASH Projects
Represent HFHM to external partners (e.g., inter-agency coordination meetings and shelter cluster meetings) contributing to disaster readiness and emergency preparedness in the target districts.
2. Program staff management, team working and development

Provide leadership and management for field staff team, including performance management, inventory management, setting and monitoring of objectives and work plans and ensuring field tasks are successfully carried out.
Steer, supervise and support WASH staff in the design, management, implementation and monitoring of WASH activities
Carry out regular coaching and ensure performance management actions of the WASH staff are completed in accordance with HFHM standards and timelines
Together with the Programs Manager, identify staffing needs and support timely recruitment processes.
Represent HFHM at national level and relevant networks on matters relating to WASH programming.
3. Grants and contracts management

Develop and manage budgets for WASH projects including submission of cash forecasts and effective tracking of expenditures.
Ensure compliance of WASH grants to donor requirements and timely communicate challenges/constraints/opportunities to senior management.
Timely submission of donor reports.
Educational Qualifications:

At least University Degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Civil Engineering or any related technical discipline relevant to WASH from a reputable university.
Experience Required

At least 3- 5 years’ experience in WASH project management /project coordination or related area or At least 2 years of experience in projects related to WASH
Experience with different aspects of project management including development, planning, implementation, evaluation.
Experience in resource mobilization and people management
Experience working in developing countries, with preference for experience in the context of Malawi
