LAGOON OJO DE LIBRE
Translated as "Eye of the Hare", and is part of Biosphere Reserve El Vizcaino, listed in World Heritage List. This is a reservoir 48 km long, 9 km wide and 5 to 12 m, but near the mouth it has channels more than 20 m deep.
No rivers flow into the lagoon, so it is saltier than sea, and surrounded by coastal salt dunes, having a height of 12 to 15 m tall. This is one of important breeding and hibernation sites for the gray whale, as well as habitat for seals, dolphins, sea lions, elephant seals and blue whales. In addition, to the lagoon for breeding come four different species of marine turtles, and in winter it is a refuge for large number of waterfowl.
In fact, this is the place considered the most attractive place for whale watching in Mexico as it has two main points: the mouth of the lagoon and another in the interior lagoons. On the shore there is a rectangular pond -
evaporator for collecting salt and industrial salt factory.

GUERRERO NEGRO
The city, which is located exactly in the middle of the California Peninsula, is the main urban center of the region where the lagoons of Ojo de Liebre, Guerrero Negro and San Ignacio are located.
As of 2020, the city has 13,596 inhabitants. The name of the city - Gerrero Negro is associated with the whaling ship "Black Warrior", which ran aground in its waters in 1858. The remains of the ship remained in the lagoon for decades.
It is part of El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve and part of a large biological corridor consisting of lagoons, coasts, salt dunes and mountains of high biological value.
The city arose as a result of the exploitation of salt mines. It has a salt works that has established itself as a leading international salt producer, producing seven million tons of salt per year.

LAGOON SAN IGNACIO
⠀
In 1988 Mexico created El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve, which includes the San Ignacio Lagoon, which is the largest wildlife sanctuary nature in Latin America.
⠀
Laguna San Ignacio is not only a nature reserve gray whales, but also the last and only undeveloped place in the world
reproduction of such whales. San Ignacio Lagoon is also an important habitat for almost extinct pronghorn or American antelope and important feeding habitat for four of the seven species of sea turtles in the world: leatherback turtle, hawksbill turtle, green turtle and olive ridley turtle (all endangered)!
⠀
In 1993, the United Nations declared the San Ignacio Lagoon a World Heritage Site due to its importance to the world community.

Balandra Beach
⠀
After lunch we head to the most beautiful beach in the country, where we kayak, look for stingrays in the mangroves, and watch birds.
⠀
Balandra Beach is the best on the California Peninsula and one of the most beautiful in Mexico. It's ideal for kayaking through the mangroves in search of stingrays hiding under the sand (motorized boats are not allowed on this beach).
⠀
Returning from this boat trip to La Paz, you can stop at numerous small islands to admire the birds. It will be like watching a National Geographic episode: flocks of nesting brown-footed boobies, ruby-breasted frigatebirds, brown pelicans, snowy egrets and great blue herons.
