URGENT NEED! Help a struggling family stay together.
Cinthia is a young mother of three living in El Zorrillo, a very poor community of mostly farm workers south of Ensenada, Baja California. Her husband has struggled off and on with addiction and finding steady work has been difficult. When he is able to find day labor, he brings home the equivalent of only 200 pesos a day, which is less than $11. They have no local family to help them. Cinthia is unable to work due to the age of her youngest child and makes handmade beads to sell in an attempt to provide food for her family.

All five family members share one bed in a single room home with an attached, very rustic bathroom, and the roof over their heads leaks when it rains. There is another unfinished part of their house that does not have a roof and it needs some work on the walls to be usable.

Today, she was visited by the police and child protective services (called DIF here), who stated that if she is unable to provide a proper roof and beds within the next 15 days, her children will be removed. Cinthia is a loving mother in a hard situation. Let’s help her keep her children by being the hands and feet of Jesus.
We're going out there tomorrow to measure everything and make a plan for materials. We estimate that we can do everything to make this home livable and meet the requirements of the local authorities for less than $2,500 U.S. dollars. This is the type of project that our guests support while they are enjoying the beach, the sunsets, and their fish tacos. Maybe it's time for another visit?

We have a project going on to help provide adequate solar energy for the men's rehab center in the Maneadero area, called El Alfarero. The funding campaign was started by Rodger and Polly Bendinelli and has had many generous donations to make the project a reality. We want to upgrade the project to allow the center to set up a shop for vocational training (woodworking, welding, etc) and we need just a little more funding. This is your opportunity to be part of blessing this very worthwhile ministry, which serves up to 40 men at a time to help them get out of alcohol or substance abuse problems and get their lives on track. Over $8,000 has been raised by generous donors already. We need just $2,000 more to be fully funded. Please consider making a donation of any size to help make this a reality.
