Today we say goodbye to El Fuerte but this morning went on the last activity of the tour: floating down the river, walk to the petroglyphs, and bird watching in between.

Those who have visited Creel probably remember the number of dogs that roam the downtown streets. Mark always noticed them and always used to buy some winnies and feed them to the dogs.

The last tour that Mark went was precisely the Copper Canyon tour, and we were in Creel like I am tonight, exactly a year ago.

Some of my “kids” were having an early dinner, other ones getting massages, resting or just hanging in their rooms. So I went downtown by myself and did what Mark would do: bought some hotdogs, and pretty soon I was surrounded by nice, patient four legged beings waiting for their turn to receive a piece of a delicious winnie. I felt accompanied while doing that and it brought warmth to my heart.

Our last day in the Copper Canyon area and it was long: we went sightseeing around Creel. First, we went to Cusarare waterfall and Lago Arareko.

Sadly, the air tram and other activities were shutdown for maintenance. So we just spent time at the restaurant, walking the paths, shopping and posing for pictures.

A very moving picture… took this while coming back up from the bottom of the canyon in a bouncy van, driving on a narrow, dirt road.

Day tour! On our way to the lookout point, Cerro Gallego, our guide took us to his family ranch: cows, goats, chickens, preserves, cheese, organic eggs, cabins. Possible future stay?

Then we continued to the bottom of the canyon, Urique. We walked through town, saw new things and finished out tour with a nice Mexican home cooked meal.

The longest bridge over the El Fuerte River, the tallest one over the Chinipas River, 86 tunnels, a mile long tunnel, rail tracks that make a loop, pine forests, waterfalls, huge boulders with little water streams around them…

Arriving in San Carlos by road is pretty. Traveling the roads in Veracruz is different kind of pretty. At least this time of year, weather was in the very cool side, clouds touching the tree tops some times. And green! Green everywhere!
