Gray whale strandings in Washington are ahead of normal pace in 2025, with 7 dead gray whales in April. This busy start to the stranding season has sparked concerns about the recovery of the gray whale population after the Unusual Mortality Event that occurred from 2019-2023. Malnutrition has been a common finding, but other contributing factors have been documented. See our website for more details.
