Last night's musical & dance performances at the Art & Culture Fair included many talented local musicians and dance troupes, and featured the Belgian dance troupe 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝘇𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗺, who are fifteen dancers aged 14-17. The photos before dark of the Municipal Band performing while the dancers gathered behind-the-scenes are screenshots from a video by Tony Garcia.
The fair took place on the newly renovated Town Square and included many artisans selling at tables, food vendors, a nice Caribbean breeze, and young isleños & isleñas honing their driving skills in pedal cars in the open area.

Wednesday, the first mama turtle of the season visited...the three attempts indicate she wasn't satisfied with the depth of the sand on the lower beach & went in search of deeper spot.

There's cloudy skies in our forecast, but here's the timeline for tonight's lunar eclipse in case it's visible. It's a long one that begins just after 1am (Eastern Time / 'Isla time') when the Earth's shadow (penumbra) begins to shroud the visible lunar surface. The moon will gradually dim as the shadow creeps across its surface for about an hour, becoming a partial lunar eclipse at 2:19a, when it's almost fully cloaked in the darkest part of the shadow (umbra). Around 3:45a the moon will be a rusty amber hue, which will build until the eclipse's peak at 4:03a, when 99.1 percent of the moon's surface will be covered in shadow. By 4:20a, the shadow will cross enough of the moon's surface that the colors are no longer visible, and the eclipse will fade as the moon slowly moves out of alignment, ending at 7:04am.
The sun sets just after 6pm these days and tonight the nearly full moon rises at 5:47p. Tomorrow the full moon rises over the Caribbean at 6:25p, on Saturday at 7:07p, on Sunday at 7:53p, on Monday at 8:43p, Tuesday at 9:35p, and Wednesday at 10:29. If you happen to see a meteor, it's one of the leftover Leonids, which peaked yesterday.

EDIT...I don't know why that schedule didn't post before, pardon! On the mainland, they depart from the Puerto Juarez Maritime Terminal (not Gran Puerto).

One of my favorite things about living on the east coast of the isle is watching the moon rise, followed by its reflection on the sea, as the clouds make 'special effects' & the occasional frigate drifts by. This fabulous photo is by Jim Guy, thanks!

At Maravilla Caribe Bed & Beach, we provide our guests with information & links for the two dozen restaurants & food carts within a ten-minute walk. The spring update is in progress (La Chatita is gone, D'Papos moved nearby, and Isla Brewery's beer garden is under construction on the corner, as is AMBAR restaurant near VLB, from the talented chef behind Madera & MiniDeli). Today I've been working on the Delivery section, gathering current menus, checking changes in hours/phone numbers, & scouting new options. Here's an overview of Pizza Delivery choices, featuring their more "exotic" combos & toppings, and omitting the 'normal' ingredients, which they all offer. 200p is $10-$11usd & most offer free delivery/200p minimum. Our list provides full menus, these photos are just a taste... (These paragraphs are posted next to the pics & easier to read as you scroll thru the menus & pizzas.)

#1 & 2 are Pizza & a More who offer 38 pizzas with red sauce and 17 without (140 to 250p. Family size +70p), as well as four doubled pizzas (200-250) and nine calzones (190-240). In addition to the standard ingredients, their toppings include artichokes, anchovies, chicken, 2 types of serrano ham, tuna, gouda, blue cheese, pear, cream cheese, spinach, eggplant, zuccini, arugula, mixed peppers, egg, bacon, potatoes, and a cream sauce (in tasteful combinations). They have garlic focaccia bread with 16 add-on toppings including mortadella & four other meats, gouda & bleu cheeses, and artichokes/anchovies/spinach/mixed vegs etc. Their full menu includes six appis, five pastas, four beef entrees, and a fish entree.

#3 & 4 are Rolandi's Isla Mujeres who have 21 pizza choices, and the unique options include a tuna sashimi w capers (272), a salmon carpaccio pizza, and one with gorgonzola, mascarpone, pear, mozzarella & arugula (ea 259). Their seafood pizza features shrimp, octopus & squid (349), there's a lobster pizza (MP), or try the asparagus, ham, mushroom & black olive (225). Those three can also be ordered as calzones. Or choose from their extensive menu featuring many first courses, entrees & desserts and enjoy a romantic dinner with your toes in the sand on our white sand beach.

#5 & 6 are Oscar's Grill Isla Mujeres whose pizzas can be ordered with a thin NY round crust or Sicilian deep-dish square crust, and stuffed-crust, or Gluten Free. Extra toppings are 30-45p.The 14 combos (235-275p) include BBQ chicken, Pastor pork, Arranchera (beef steak), and Mexicana. There's also Shrimp (310/350), Lobster (460/500) and Seafood (385/425) with mussels, shrimp & lobster. There's many pasta choices, burgers/tacos/burritos/nachos, salads, steaks/chops/ribs/chicken, and seafood.

#7 & 8 are Sesolocos restaurant whose specialties include a pizza topped with al Pastor, pineapple, onion & cilantro. There's a pizza Arranchera (steak) and a BBQ chicken pizza with onions. The Seso Special has Carne Asada with ham, onion, & sweet peppers. The Isla Mujeres features ham, bacon, salami & mushrooms. They're 175-235 pesos & most are included in the Two for 300p Special. The Marinera (325p) has shrimp, octopus & squid. The pizza-pasta-bread special is 265 pesos. Entrees include Mexican, steaks, seafood, burgers, etc., as well as chiles rellenos stuffed with seafood and queso fundidos.

#9 & 10 are Pizza Mike’s specializes in New York Style pizza. with a menu that has 21 combos (180-285p) and 17 add-on ingredients (25p mostly) including anchovies, spinach & cheddar. Deep dish & gluten free crusts also. And Pizza by the Slice (35p/toppings +5p ea). In addition to the usual meats, there's shrimp. lobster, arranchera, bbq chicken, bacon and meatballs. The Seafood pizza (355) has mussels, shrimp & lobster, the Henry (210) has ricotta & meatballs and Mike's stuffed pizza features a stuffed crust, fresh garlic, olives, mushrooms, spinach, pepperoni, ham & Italian sausage. The Sampler (285) consists of four (specific) pizzas. There's an extensive pasta menu, a bucket of mussels (235), and the desserts include homemade cannolis.

#11 & 12--Pizza Rock. Isla Mujeres Quintanaroo offers three sizes and 28 combinations (130-240p) and stuffed crust. Extra toppings are 25-60p. They have Lobster pizza (195-370), Pastor (155-240), Bleu Cheese (180-250), and the Isla Mujeres with squid, shrimp, octopus, peppers & onions (185-360). The 2 for 1 Tuesday special (250 med/300 lg) includes five choices. One pizza can be half/half or four different types. Combo specials everyday of stuffed-crust pizza adding 1) dessert & pasta or salad, 2) Arranchera steak w stuffed potato & guac or 3) herb knots & garlic dip w soda (210-310). In addition to standard pizza toppings, they offer dehydrated and fresh tomatoes, serrano ham, gouda, cheddar, meatballs, bacon, chorizo, red and green peppers, jalepeno, corn, chicken, boneless wings (buffalo or BBQ) and tuna. There's two calzones (160) and one stuffed with seafood (190), as well as portabella mushrooms stuffed with capresse (145), four types of Queso Fundido (90-140). There's two snack-box combos & entrees include seafood, steak, fajitas, enchiladas, pastas, salads and ten appetizers. An Isleño business since 1997.

#13 & 14 are Capricci Pizza & Sfizi whose choices include a bacon & egg pizza, a prociutto & fresh mushroom option, pizza with salmon or shrimp, combined as you prefer. They also offer salads, snacks, pastas, burgers & sandwiches, calzones & dessert pizza.

#15 & 16--didn't post, I'll put them in the comments from Sonny's Pizza who are (re)opening "soon". They're “The California Club Pizza” featuring a Roasted Garlic Aioli, House-Smoked Chicken, Double Smoked Bacon, Provolone Cheese, Fresh Mozzarella, Marinated Rosemary Tomatoes, Avocado and a Balsamic Drizzle and “The Sweet Cecilia” with Italian Prosciutto, Figs, Goat Cheese, Fresh Rosemary, Roasted Garlic, Fresh Spinach and an Aged Balsamic Drizzle. Sonny's will also offer “The Italian Job” with Crispy Neapolitan Style Crust, House-Made Italian Sausage, Parma Ham, Pepperoni, Fresh Mozzarella, Feta Cheese, Fresh Tomatoes, Jalapeños and Fresh Basil.
