Baja has two seasons, summer and winter. Although the place remains warm for most of the year, winters may get cold and chilly.

If you are interested in whale watching, then the best time for you would be December to March. However, if you are more inclined towards diving, May to October is the best time for you.

La Bufadora
Near the city of Ensenada, about 2.5 hours south of San Diego, is the famous geyser La Bufadora. Known for one of the largest marine geysers in the world, this spot also hosts some of the best diving in Baja Mexico.
A nearby canyon nourishes abundant creatures, including anemones and starfish. With excellent visibility and water that can exceed 60 degrees Fahrenheit, you might not want to return to land.

Isla Todos Santos
A pair of islands off the coast of Ensenada, Isla Todos Santos, are well known for some of the best surf breaks in Baja. What is less well known is that they offer great diving adventures. The islands are only accessible by boat. If you're in the area between October and March, you will likely get to see migrating herds of grey or humpback whales.

Cabo Pulmo
Near Baja California's southern tip is Cabo Pulmo. In the 1990s, it banned fishing, and its coral reefs became protected sites. As a result, its marine life has become extremely varied and plentiful.
In Cabo Pulmo, a licensed dive guide will take you on a 45-minute excursion. You can see the wreck of the cargo boat El Vencedor, where you'll encounter many vibrant fish. Whales, eels, turtles and a bull shark could also show up.

History of Mexican Art
Mexican art history begins with early peoples, such as the Olmecs, Incans, Mayans and Aztecs. These early artists produced works during the 3,000-year period between 1500 BC and 1500 AD.

Mexican Folk Art and Crafts
People who have no formal art training create folk art. Folk art and crafts are handmade and decorative.

In Mexico, folk arts and crafts are called “artesanía”. There is a wide variety of artesanía in Mexico. This is because Mexico has many different raw materials and varied people groups. Natural resources in Mexico include many types of clay, wood, metal, stones, and plants. Bold colors and decorative details give Mexican folk art the attractive edge it is famous for.

This style of decoration is used to celebrate the Day of the Dead on October 31st through November 2nd. Family and friends of those who died gather to pray and remember them.

“Sugar skulls”, with their magnificent decorations, are a popular Mexican tradition. They represent a departed soul and may have the names of the loved ones written on the foreheads. Family members place the skulls on an altar or the loved one’s grave to honor the return of the person’s spirit. While they require a lot of work to make, sugar skulls are colorful, sparkly, and inspire joy.

𝟑 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐃𝐈𝐃𝐍𝐓 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐁𝐀𝐉𝐀

1. There's More to Eat than Fish Tacos
Northern Baja California is blazing a culinary trail that leaves its neighbors on both sides of the border in the dust. SoCal foodies flock to Ensenada for weekend seafood feasts at Manzanilla and Muelle Tres (Teniente Azueta. The Valle de Guadalupe's 14-mile wine route is lined with boutique wineries and restaurants like top-honored Laja and upstart Silvestre. And critics north and south call Tijuana's Mision 19 one of the most exciting restaurants on the West Coast, period, with superlative wine-paired tasting menus for a fraction of what you'd pay in Los Angeles.

2. Catching a Wave?
That Baja California is an expert surfer's paradise doesn't mean you have to be an expert to surf it. Three thousand miles of coast mean there's a wave for everyone, and even some top surf spots, like Cerritos near Todos Santos and Old Man's in San Jose del Cabo, have sandy bottoms and predictable breaks that make them great places to learn. A string of surf schools are taking the hint, and there's a wide array of introductory lessons and tours, from half a day up to two weeks, that will have you hanging ten in no time.

3. Cacti Are Cool
What's 500 years old, 10 feet tall, and looks like an upside-down carrot? The freakish, feathery spires of the boojum tree may only grow in Baja's central desert, but in the rest of the peninsula, you can take your pick of more than 100 different species: towering 60-foot cardoons; sunset-hued barrel cactus; pitahaya that look like organ pipes; pereskiopsis that don't look like cactus at all. Before tourism, desert Baja lived on cactus, building shelter from twisting woody cardoon stalks and eating nopal paddles and pitahaya fruit, and their continuing ubiquity is one of the few traces of traditional culture that's survived to the present day.

As a peninsula, Baja California is surrounded by water on three sides with borders on the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California. The state also has diverse topography but it is divided in the middle by the Sierra de Baja California, the Peninsular Ranges. The largest of these ranges are the Sierra de Juarez and the Sierra de San Pedro Martir. The highest point of these ranges and of Baja California is Picacho del Diablo at 10,157 feet (3,096 m).

1. MULEGE
Mulege is a small town nestled in between the mountains of Baja California Sur. Although most of the Baja landscape is desert-like and dry, Mulege is a little oasis with palm tree groves and a river passing through.

One of the highlights of Mulege is the mission located on top of a hill overlooking the city below. The town of Mulege is quiet, filled with narrow cobblestone streets and local stores, appealing to passing travelers as a fun day stop and a place to hang out for a few hours before heading on.

2. BAHIA CONCEPCION
Bahia Conception is a cluster of secluded beaches and all of them are equally amazing with clear blue water and plenty of sea life to observe. Santispac beach in this bay is a great place to camp for a few days, go kayaking, snorkeling, watch sunsets or just lay out on the beach.

3. TORTUGUERO LAS PLAYITAS
Tortugueros Las Playitas is a beach on the outskirts of Todos Santos and it’s a known area for rescuing and releasing endangered sea turtles into the ocean. Local volunteers comb the beaches daily for new turtle nests, transport them to a sanctuary for monitoring and release them into the ocean upon hatching.

𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐃 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐒

1. Origins of Day of the Dead
The roots of the Day of the Dead, celebrated in contemporary Mexico and among those of Mexican heritage in the United States and around the world, go back some 3,000 years, to the rituals honoring the dead in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. The Aztecs and other Nahua people living in what is now central Mexico held a cyclical view of the universe, and saw death as an integral, ever-present part of life.

2. How It’s Celebrated Today
Today’s customs regarding Day of the Dead festivities have morphed over the years to become the distinct tradition it is now. Flowers, altars, food, and music are all integral parts of the holiday.

Families will gather during the night at the cemeteries (panteons), light candles, and place flowers on the burial sites of their lost loved ones. There is festive music and definitely no crying or grieving. This is a reflective and lively get-together honoring the deceased back to celebrate life and enjoy all the human things again.

3. All About Food
Mexico knows food! There is no celebrating without food in Mexico. Customary foods are prepared during the Dia de Los Mu***os and are shared with family, neighbors, strangers, and the visiting spirits.

Pan de Mu***os, or day of the dead bread, is an essential part of the festivities and is also placed on the altars. Sugar Skulls are enjoyed by the young and old during this time also. Mole, tamales, pozole, and sopa azteca are prepared by families with the recipes being passed on from generation to generation.

La Paz meaning “The Peace” is located about an hour and a half from Los Cabos, and what a beautiful place it is. Without a doubt, the most incredibly picturesque and secretive of the Baja peninsula beaches has to be stunning Belandra Bay.

- TODOS SANTOS
An easy drive from Los Cabos on well-maintained roads, the palm-fringed desert oasis of Todos Santos provides an ideal respite from the touristy chaos of Cabo. Situated at the foothills of the rugged Sierra de la Laguna Mountains on the Pacific side of the Baja Peninsula, this charming cobblestoned village is the perfect blend of Mexican history, culture and hospitality.

- SAN JOSE DEL CABO
Los Cabos is anchored by touristy Cabo San Lucas on the western Pacific side of Los Cabos and its sister city San Jose del Cabo to the east. This historic town of San Jose enchants visitors with its old adobe buildings painted in bright tropical colors. The Spanish colonial town’s history dates back to the 1700s. These days both corn and flour tortillas are used and are filled with meat, cheese, seafood, beans, vegetables or all of the above. The stuffed tortillas are then covered in a chilli sauce, making for a perfect Mexican breakfast.

2- POZOLE
Made from hominy corn with plenty of herbs and spices, the dish is traditionally stewed for hours, often overnight. Once it's ready to serve, lettuce, radish, onion, lime and chilli are sprinkled on top.
