2019 1st day prerun we ran into Wouter_Jan_Van_Dijk (Dutchy) and Shane Moss it was a full Baja story in itself but a brotherhood was born in true Baja Style!! Shane had bought a bike in Canada and rode the som bitch down to ironman the 1000 ! They had no place to stay so we housed them and got to know these loco dudes. Shane kicked ass and took 3rd place amazeballs story in itself!
Dutchy was inspired ! Last week they let me know they were Baja Sur for Dutchys turn at the famed ironman full pull. As we grabbed beers in LaPaz they told me Dutchy and Shane wild ride!
Dutchy found a 15 Ktm 500 w 70 hrs off to wallmart for tents/ bags other typical stuff to load on the bikes for there 2 week adventure down the Baja!!
Stuck on top of a mountain freezing cold and other crazy stuff of course. They didn’t know about the 500 it had been looped by the mullet dude they bought it from but with the camping load the fractured sub frame let go!!
Needless to say alot need to be done in Lapaz and yes they would not let him pass tech until a list of stuff was handled ! 2pm the day before the race he finally got his tires / bibs that we got mounted up and his scramble to get everything else ready is a miracle ! Can you imagine the stress this brings on getting ready for the biggest race of your life!!! This story has gone viral as he was in 1st for 400 miles and currently he took to rest at rm 900 and is back underway sitting 3rd place! We are all sending energy to make the finish line this evening !! Go Dutchy
