So many whales to see! Yesterday we were surrounded by Blues! "Whale Soup" Thank you to everyone who's been sending us pictures and videos! Here's one fromnour friend. The boat was floating in neutral when this Blue passed underneath!

Wow! You never know what gifts Mother Nature will bestow on us when we go out to explore. Yesterday we went out looking for dolphins and whales and had great success. What we were not expecting to see were new kinds of Jelly fish and right behind them a Sunfish snacking on them! In all our years on the Sea of Cortez we have never seen one!

Thank you so much to Captain Luis for sharing such amazing shots today!

Today we just cut the motor, and waited. That's when we get surprises like this Humpback!

Our whales watching tours have started! They are almost a month early this year and we are hoping they will hang out with us for a while. Be sure to listen to the audio
Thanks to capitan Hector for the video! That's a really good zoom lens!

June and July are excellent times for folks who love Nudibranchs! Nudi-what? You ask? They are shell-less sea slugs that are found in oceans throughout the world. They can change color and texture by absorbing pigments and toxins from their prey. So if they eat something toxic, they in turn become toxic to their predators. The Sea of Cortez is host to many, many, many varieties of Nudibranchs. These photos show some of the nudis we often see on our dives in June and July (although we can often find Tambjas throughout the year). Come see them for yourselves!! www.diveloreto.com

A bonus site that celebrates nudibranchs, and David Bowie can be found here: https://bowiebranchia.tumblr.com/. Some creative person started a thread that shows for every Nudibranch out there, David Bowie had a matching outfit.

Magical moments in our Pueblo Mágico. Loreto recieved its "Pueblo Magico" designation around 2015. This special title is part of a program to promote tourism and preserve the cultural heritage of special towns throughout Mexico. Miguel is also a cultural treasure. He has an encyclopedic memory for 100s of songs. You can find him belting out his ballads in the shady heart of Loreto almost every day. So keep an ear out for him as you're strolling through town.

Juve (right) had a lovely visit with George (Damsel fish left) today. For the last 12 years he's set up his nest in the same place and is still as "friendly" as ever. Male Damselfish will clear an area on the rocks and invite the females to come lay their eggs. They're very protective of their nest and if you put a shell or sea star nearby, they will carry it away. June_July is the height of the nesting season and it's fun to see these behaviors in action. George is special. He likes to be pet and will gently play with us (not try and bite off our finger like the damselfish next door).Thank you again Shanna for capturing one of our visits! Long live George!

"You don't need eyes to see, you need vision!"-Maxi Jazz, Faithless. Years ago Juve saw this barge in the corner of someones yard and knew it had potential. After dismantling the PVC tube rails and many other modifications (sorry the astro turf is gone too) "La Pachanga" is ready and we'll be offering Sunset Cruises this summer from 7-10pm along the Loreto Waterfront.
This 19 passenger vessel is also available for day tours as well. Contact Us ([email protected]) for details. Any suggestions let us know. The more fun the better!

The beautiful Blues are still here! We love this time of year when the weather is lovely and calm. We put the boats in neutral and just float along while the whales come up around us.

Experience, Adventure,and Fun!

Juve Orozco first came over to Loreto in the late 90’s to assist the local tour operators with training their captains in Whale Watching. When staying in Loreto, Juve saw all the opportunities this town offered for whale watching, diving, hiking, cave paintings and cultural tours. He worked as a guide for many years for other companies, but then in 2008 had an opportunity to start his own business. Sara and Juve started this business very small and have steadily been growing ever since. We pride ourselves on running quality tours and employing local guides, and families to keep our business going. We have no VIP tours because each tour is a VIP tour. We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world and to share this place with others.
