The spring equinox✨at the Maya site of Dzibilchaltún🌅

This morning the sun sends its beams through the windows of the temple of “Las Siete Muñecas," or the seven dolls.

During the spring equinox, the sun was directly above the equator, creating equal amounts of daylight and darkness. This balance was seen as a symbol of the interconnectedness of all things and a reminder to live in harmony with nature. The Mayans also celebrated the spring equinox as the beginning of a new agricultural cycle, marking the time to plant crops and prepare for the upcoming growing season.

La Quinta Montes Molina is a beautifully preserved mansion along Paseo de Montejo that has been passed down from generation to generation since 1915. The Montes Molina family converted the home into a museum decorated with original art and furniture showcasing the lifestyle of wealthy Yucatecan landowners during the early 20th century.
