4th anual festival coming in Feb 2025!

Hayhu has kindly agreed to host us again so be sure to come hungry.
Our recipients this year are the Luis Jorge Cortes Mugartegue secondary school, beside the church across from the domo. Catherine Giroux has very graciously offered to administer monies raised. We are planning to build a roof for the students to enjoy a shady area while they fuel up at lunch and otherwise. As well we are going to be building more benches and tables for the outside area. There is a real need for this as there is very limited outdoor furniture in a school with a growing student population.
Next up is a project developed and created by Alejandra Rosalia Morales Plascencia and Virginia Cruz Alvarez. You may remember Alejandra from her previous project TAAK. This new organization’s name is La caracola. This particular project is called “Playful Laboratory” Environmental education through art in public spaces. This will be weekly sessions of art and recreational activities on the Malecon for kids between 3-9. Kids who might otherwise be hanging around waiting for their parents who are working while the cruise ship passengers are in town. We are also hoping to establish a mobile library to have set up on site.
La Caracola has been collaborating with MARES and Takata who have been providing training to help develop the learning program about coastal ecosystems. Menos Plastico es fantastico is also part of this alliance. Helping with program preparation and donations of material for beach cleanups. I know any money sent here will be carefully and wisely spent. These woman are networking and working hard.
