New guest Michael from Montana getting it done in style today. He caught a double Grand Slam! We caught 4 Tarpon, I don’t know how many Bones, Ladyfish, a Snapper, a Mojarra and a bunch of Cichlids whilst trying to extract Tarpon from the Jungle. Well fished Sir!

Super hard day. That said we cast at Permit, Bones, Triggers with no love. Caught Snappers over an Oceanside cenote, Cichlids galore, jumped one 20lb Tarpon, caught a baby one. The lagoon was 1-6 with 3 being babies.

We were fortunate to find tailing Permit this morning before the front blew in. I felt like with a couple more shots we would have caught a couple. We got a Trigger a small Bone before launching in a lagoon where we caught 2 small Tarpon, a bunch of Cichlids (2 species) and jumped a bigger Tarpon (10lb) which escaped us. Full day tour with great friends Bill and Scott returning from B.C to fish with us again.

Well done Greg! First Tarpon on first time trying. Great work.

Great friend and good neighbor Aaron with his first Permit and first Grand Slam today. Let’s not mention that huge Snook! Well fished Sir! All flies came on flies developed here. Permit, Mayan Claw; Bonefish, Super Slam Shrimp and Tarpon DR Dzonot bead chain.

Congrats for your first Tarponnon a fly to new guest Andrew from Colorado. He had a couple of mystery grabs over Cenotes that didn’t stick then had a larger fish on that sadly came off on maybe the 4th or 5th jump. We then got into some more babies. His 9 year old son got in on the action, feeding 3 and jumping a 4th. Both him and his Mum caught a Cichlid each. 3/4 day lagoon trip.

New guest/client/friend Jens has fished a lot of places but never boated a Tarpon. We started on some Juvies and he got his first 3. One took a gurgled off the surface. Not much action maybe 10 grabs total. Started off on a bait ball for Jacks but only saw one explosion. Beaches looking better for next two days.

Boy the beaches were angry today with coloured water everywhere for the full moon and high tide. Couldn’t find a Bonefish anywhere. First time SW fly angler Michael caught his first Tarpon from the flowing flood water. In the lagoon we fed over a dozen jumping 3 a couple of better size. On the way home we stopped to watch birds feeding on a bait ball and caught a nice JC. Full day combo tour

Well what a month that was!!!!! Only a storm stopped us from fishing. Thanks so much everyone who joined in. Great to fish with Mark from BC again this year on our last day before a week off. Flood waters have interfered for sure. Today we cast at Permit, a Jack Crevalle and a whole bunch of small Tarpon. The bigger ones didn’t really come out to play. We did jump a gosh in the 8-10lb range who jumped to freedom. One very curious Permit who followed a couple of times will be in my dreams for sure! Thanks again. See you in a week. ND

Guests from a family visiting from California, Michigan and Tennessee together again on todays Fish2Dish. They opted for an extra hours fishing time. Beautifully calm seas and enough action for a great catch of the day lunch.
