Naj K’oóben offers experiences that are fun, hands on and interactive, that allow travellers to learn about Mexican Cooking in a relaxed and intimate environment.
We are about about creating awareness about the great diversity of ingredients, flavours and cooking techniques that Mexican cuisine holds, as well as connecting travellers with locals and their talents.
This is why traveling and consciousness are an integral part of our chain as they play a vital role in supporting the local communities that exist today. We strive to create a memorable and positive experience for all the participants.
And do not forget about the best part... entice your taste buds by enjoying a variety of authentic Mexican dishes.
Our workshop exhibits the importance of tacos in Mexican cuisine and understand why it is considered UNESCO's heritage.
The space is wonderful as it creates an intimate and quiet environment for us to stand around the table and learn together how to make and eat tacos the traditional way.
Interact with your hosts (an Aussie traveller Jessica and Mexican Carlos) and the Mexican Chef and taco expert, Many. Watch him do his magic, because he isn’t about just making any standard tacos, he is all about detail and presentation to create gourmet tacos full of flavour, colour and spices.
This engaging, hand on experience will showcase a variety of meats and their marination, along with traditional vegetables and salsas to accompany the tacos.
Because Tacos are not just a meal, they are a way to eat.

This is a special cultural experience which takes place in the house of a family in a small Mayan village, which is approximately 1.5 hours from Tulum.
Our Mayan chefs (our hosts), elaborate some of the best Cochinita Pibil recipes in the region since they still preserve traditional techniques. They currently manage a Cochinita Pibil tacos business in town.
We hold this experience in their house, in order to expose the diverse elements behind excellent traditional recipes and the extensive Mexican culinary culture.
Tortillas and their preparation (Base of a large taco)
Elaboration of different types of sauces (Taco without sauce is not taco)
The underground oven where iconic dishes are cooked in Yucatan and various utensils in the traditional kitchen.
Local ingredients
Marinating techniques of different proteins.
Of course, after learning about Yucatecan cuisine and its Tacos, you will have the pleasure of eating your delicious food in a private and intimate setting. A menu will be created to show all that beautiful diversity of ingredients offered by Mexican cuisine.
As an optional activity, if you so choose, we will take you to a small market where local farmers offer their crops.
