Whale sharks are filter feeders, and can neither bite nor chew. Although its mouth can stretch to four feet wide, a whale shark's teeth are so tiny that they can only eat small shrimp, fish, and plankton by using their grill rakers as a suction filter.

Erik had a day off yesterday so he went and dove Cenote Coop One for the first time. Absolutely beautiful cave with gorgeous limestone formations, restrictions, and keyholes. No camera because it was the first dive and the important things to focus on were cave diving technique and navigation. But pics and video will be made later.

The proper way to pick-up/carry a tank is a very small part of the Open Water Scuba Diver course, but we believe that details matter. DAN explains why it’s important here in their post.

When transporting a scuba cylinder, should you pick it up with the or***ce toward your hand or away from your hand? 🤔

Answer:
You should always lift the cylinder with the or***ce away from your hand, thus closing the handwheel while raising. Many divers don’t put much thought into how they lift their cylinders. If you pick it up with the or***ce toward your hand, this may open the handwheel as you lift, blowing high-pressure gas 💨 against your skin and possibly causing skin pe*******on and subcutaneous emphysema.
