¿Conoces la historia de las sillas “confidentes”?

Cuenta la leyenda que las famosas sillas “confidentes” o "tú y yo" tienen origen en un hermoso pueblo de Yucatán llamado Bokobá.

Surge a partir de los celos de un padre cuya hija estaba siendo cortejada por un joven del pueblo. Para evitar que los jóvenes tuvieran cercanía física, se le ocurrió mandar a hacer una silla que les dejara platicar en un lugar público, mirándose a los ojos y, lo más importante: sin tocarse. Fue así que surge la idea de hacer las sillas confidentes.

En 1915 se colocaron las primeras sillas en la Plaza Grande para después instalarse en Paseo Montejo.

The word ‘but’, is pero. No rolling the ‘r’. Type of fish - mero is mayroe. Bull is toro, p**n toeroe.

H is always silent!
ie: alcohol is alcol, hotel is otel.

LL is always p**nounced ‘y’
ie: Street is calle, p**nounced ‘kai yay’, NOT kallee!
Girl is ella, p**n. ey ya!

J is always the h sound. Jesus is p**n. Hay soos! Together is junto, p**n. hoon toe.

Example:
Otel is on kai yay 20, hoontoe with a restaurant.

TRAIN UPDATE:

🚄RUNS OF THE MAYA TRAIN FROM MÉRIDA TO CANCUN INCREASE🚄

Starting today, Friday, March 1, the Mayan Train will offer more departure times from Mérida to Cancún, a route in which passengers can travel to destinations such as Izamal, Valladolid or Chichén Itzá round trip on the same day.

Now to travel from Mérida to Cancun there are times of 7 am, 8:45 am and 1:43 pm. It should be remembered that before there were only 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm schedules, so there are now more runs.

While from Cancun to Mérida the times are at 7 am, 5 pm and 7:10 pm.

Likewise, this Thursday, February 29, section 5 of the Mayan Train that goes from Playa del Carmen to Cancun was inaugurated.

Ticket prices for this section of the Mayan Train are divided into two main categories: Tourist and Premier.

Within the Tourist category, there are the Special, Local, National and International options.

The prices are 79 pesos (Special-students, older adults, people with disabilities), 99 pesos (Local with INE credential from Quintana Roo), 148 National (People with INE from the country) and 197 (International).

Meanwhile, the Premier category offers rates ranging from 236 pesos for Nationals, to 315 pesos for Internationals.

For anyone confused about how to book TREN MAYA online:
1: seats are ONLY released for two week periods at a time.
2: there are no return tickets.
3. It’s super easy to book and take the train.
4. Cancun to Merida and vice versa is running about 3.5 hours now, in future when construction is done, 2.5 hrs.
5. Buy tickets ahead of time online.
6. They email tickets, probably goes to your Spam. Immediately take photos of tickets upon receipt as email can disappear!
7. Stations are super simple to navigate.
8. Tickets as of today, are only up to Feb 20th. Wait till Monday for more dates after that!
9. ‘International’ vs ‘National’ is for tourist vs card carrying resident.
10. Only one route is open - Cancun to Palenque and vice versa!
11. Premier vs Regular is about 1 inch leg room, a sandwich and a drink.
12. Luggage goes in the train car storage area when you enter, then sliding door to seating area.
13. Merida to Palenque takes about 7 hrs for now.
14. Not all stations are open and you cannot disembark and re board at various stations. One way, one stop tickets only right now.
