La escultura Ballena Vallarta de Octavio González Gutiérrez, fue inaugurada el 14 de marzo de 2001(Marina Vallarta). Esta pieza tardó más de 4 años en completarse, pesa más de 13 toneladas, casi 30 pies de alto y unos 43 pies de largo, y todo está magistralmente balanceado en una sola aleta y menos de un metro cuadrado.
El artista afirma que la pieza representa a la familia y su importancia, principalmente honrando a la madre como pieza central y ancla de todas las familias, que se entregan incondicionalmente a sus hijos.

The sculpture Ballena Vallarta by Octavio González Gutiérrez, was inaugurated on March 14, 2001 (Marina Vallarta). This piece took over 4 years to complete, it weighs over 13 tons, almost 30 feet high and about 43 feet long, and everything is masterfully balanced on a single fin and less than a square meter.
The artist affirms that the piece represents the family and its importance, mainly honoring the mother as the centerpiece and anchor of all families, who give themselves unconditionally to their children.
