NEW GUIDELINES starting 2morrow…with BIG thanks to Paco Ojeda for translation (YOU should join up @ buymeacoffee.com) I have made some notes for the non-Spanish speakers to capsulize the very long winded report from the Governor this afternoon. From tomorrow February 13, 2021 to Dec 15, 2021 here are the new “strict guidelines” for the state of Puerto Vallarta (& the state of Jalisco). The guidelines will be re-evaluated on June 15 & adjustments may be made along the way as necessary; for example, there will be special protocols for Semana Santa, Mothers Day etc. There are NO age restrictions, but the government suggests businesses offer special shopping hours for seniors. Shopping malls & supermarkets can operate regular hours but may not admit more than 2 persons per family or promote special sales or events. Generally speaking, businesses (I assume theatres & bars & clubs included) need to offer 4 meters space per person, must have ventilation, offer hand sanitizer, and enforce use of facemasks. Any large events must submit their plan to the health board to get special permission. Many reading this will be wondering about specifics for theatres, bars, restaurants, night clubs…& there basically were none…so until further notice I guess we assume they all can go back to normal openings and hours, as long as they follow the generalized business safety guidelines. Details were a little sketchy, so I am sure in days to come on the government website! Isn't this GRAND...but we all need 2 keep distancing...masking up...sanitizing so we don't go back to closures that hurt the livelihood of dear Vallarta!

Our family decided to escape to Puerto Vallarta this summer. We were there for over six weeks. We used this time to get our permanent residency visas, work remotely, vacation, and United with some other families we know. What we found was that there were more safety protocols being adhered to there then back here at home. Mask wearing of course. As well as temperature checks, hand sanitizing, social distancing, spaced out palapas and umbrellas on the beach and even baths for the soles of your shoes before entering establishments. Common sense strategies were being honored and enforced. We felt safe and comfortable. We don’t get to go back until December. We’ve lowered rates for the balance of this slower season as well as during high season. Give it some thought and take a break in PV.
