At Natours we embrace nature , and proudly become a link between humans and wildlife through education and respect.

Nature has many variants, many ways to marvel us. And one of them is through sound, a great example is the beautiful song of whales . Yes our beautiful humpbacks , that you may have heard during our tours. And Thalia has explained about her idea of the musical converbelt that connects all whales of the world.

So we thought, why not create a simbiosis between our research and music in Puerto Vallarta. We are already studying those breathtaking whale songs....might as well be part of the music of PV. The beautiful community that continuously supports us. And we are happy to give back. Always in thought of education and growth.

And just as we put our minds into it, the perfect occasion came to us

This time we humbly participate with a gift certificate for the silent auction by .
This for the support of children's musical education.
So , if you don't have plans . Join us on this fun evening Mardi Gras Carnival Fundrasing.

Thank you to the board members of Instituto de las Artes musicales de Puerto Vallarta (IAMPV) for allowing us to participate.

Many kids will benefit from this.

Yesterday during our whale watching excursion.
Half a mile away from a spot where we were listening to whales, Angel and Thalia saw what the first pictures show . A funny looking log? Then it disappears and a couple minutes later it gets closer.
Then a small head appears and vanishes out of the sudden . Then again, fins pop out and a head a bit separate .

Two beautiful sea lions were thermoregulation and playing. Engines were off, so we got to enjoy them without disturbing. And they came so close to the boat that it seemed that they were looking to play with us .

Thalia was able to capture these nice pictures of two beautiful animals who decided to spend some time around us.

Some guests have asked me lately...
"what is the strangest thing you have seen ?"
As a biologist everything is nothing, and nothing is everything
No two outings are alike, and I learn from each as much as from another.

But the sighting of this whale is definitely among the top ten "strange " things.

I was just joking about the way that I distinguish a female from a male , saying that females wear red lipstick or pink eyelashes. Of course everybody laughs at my silly joke.

But then this beautiful whale appears
Within a competition pod of 7 whales, and it does have " Red lipstick", so one of our guests say..."well since your information is based on science, you were telling the truth. Then that's a female."

We followed it for a little longer, it continually breached. We counted 29 breaches. Many pec slaps. It was the most active whale of the pod, but the other whales didn't seem to get to close .

Now, what can it be?
My guess, for the time being , as I'm looking for more info ..this whale could have a severe skin infection, either a bacteria or a fungus.
It's most likely itchy and even has a burning sensation.
Going through other pictures, parts of the dorsal showed red spots, so it's spreading fast.

What do you think??

This is for sure a strange sighting, and an opportunity to learn more.

I love what I do!
