The tours offered in the reserve (Zipline, Horseback Riding or ATV’s) have been created using the natural layout of the land and disturbing as little as possible. “My passion to create a natural eco-park came from living the first part of my childhood in the jungle, in the time of the industry of the resin extraction of the gum tree, watching and learning about the marvellous diversity of trees an
d animals of this region. After experiencing the agitated city life, I was convinced that this place I grew up in, was the perfect natural area for people to enjoy exciting and adventurous fun, getting in touch with the beautiful nature of this jungle setting. I remember the face of the woman who delivered me in the jungle in 1967 when I was born. I remember the green snake who pooped on my forehead when I was 1 years old and seeing as my life has all of its roots in the jungle, this is where my passion lies. I remember the rain at 4 in the morning when my father was leaving to harvest the chicle resin from the great Zapote trees that protected this land for so many years and the first tour I ever guided at 9 years old to take a small group of American’s into the jungle to find a jaguar. When I finally came to that moment in life when I had no other option but to do what I loved most, I started to create Boca Del Puma. Armed with machete and axe I started to form the pathways and create the first Cenote of this reserve and the only thing I did each day was ask for guidance and follow my intuition. 18 years later I have no doubt that this land has been protected and preserved by a higher power, sometimes I don’t even know how I kept going, the one thing I am certain of, “follow your passion and life will take care of the rest.”
We have a lot of history in this land! You will know about the sacred tree Ceiba or the mayan altars that are found in the jungle. You will know our Chicle Museum, and also we will tell you the story of the “Chicleros” the first settlers who came to this area in around 1890 to work together with the Mayan people extracting gum for our first natural chiclets that were sold by the Adams factory. Everyone finishes the tour with a great sense of adventure, relaxed and free of stress and the feeling of accomplishing something new and exciting. Come and join us where the adventure continues”… “Hope to see you soon”.
