New Flights Announced for Los Cabos!

Great news for travelers! It looks like Southwest Airlines is making it easier than ever to visit Cabo San Lucas. They’ve just expanded their flight schedule all the way to April next year, and guess what? Cabo is on the list of new destinations!

Starting on March 8, 2025, just in time for Spring Break, Southwest will be offering direct weekly Saturday flights from Nashville, Tennessee, to Cabo San Lucas. And, as always with Southwest, you can enjoy those low fares and free checked bags.

Thinking of all of our guests that have stayed with us at the Coral Baja in San Jose del Cabo and praying you and your families are healthy and safe.

Southwest has been cautiously expanding international services since first suspending them on March 23rd.
The first international routes will return May 21st, with services to San Jose del Cabo/Los Cabos. From there, Southwest will reopen more departing airports to San Jose del Cabo on June 7th.

We can all hope this pandemic is behind us sooner than later so we can all travel again to our favorite locations! We sure look forward to you back to Cabo.

La Lupita Taco & Mezcal
Chef Thomas Keller counts himself among La Lupita’s many devoted fans. The secret to the lively joint’s addictive tacos: made-from-scratch tortillas. La Lupita uses Mazahua corn, grown more than 8,200 feet above sea level, and nixtamalizes (a process where the corn is soaked, cooked, washed, and hulled) and grinds it in-house, then slaps it into sizzling warm tortillas. Fillings range from al pastor and tender short ribs with goat cheese to grasshoppers. No matter what you order, cold cervezas and potent mezcal cocktails pair perfectly.

Jardín Secreto
Poured concrete-and-brick interiors give this newly opened downtown restaurant a minimalist edge, while firepits and tropical vegetation create a cozy vibe. As the name suggests, the menu specializes in garden-to-table cuisine. Wood-fired pizzas are the specialty. Ask your server to match your pie to a bottle of Baja wine.

La Revolución Comedor de Baja California
Set within a historic building in the heart of San Jose, La Revolucíon is the brainchild of Baja California cooking pioneer Benito Molina and cocktail maestro and co-founder of the annual Cabo Cocktail Festival, Osvaldo Vásquez. The intensely local, hyper-seasonal menu has a handful of hefty entrees, like the 2.6-pound Tomahawk, but otherwise is meant for sharing. Don’t miss the octopus and pig skin taco and suckling pig turnovers.

These new shops, bars, and restaurants provide plenty of reasons to venture beyond Los Cabos' top hotels.

Alert: New Tourist Tax Effective November 9th in Cabo - Luxury Travel Advisor.

Tourists visiting the Mexican state of Baja California Sur will be required to pay a tax of 350 pesos (approximately $18.50) starting Saturday, November 9, 2019.

The taxes will be charged directly to tourists and will be payable at kiosks located at airports for travelers arriving by air, while the port authority will be responsible for collecting the tax from tourists who arrive by sea, according to Mexico News Daily. Governor Carlos Mendoza Davis says visitors will also be able to pay the tax on a website and mobile app.

The state, which is home to such popular destinations as Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo and La Paz, says the tax is to be used for “use of Infrastructure” and “social service works.” The Associated Press adds that resorts in Mexico are often surrounded by poor communities and resorts have been criticized for doing little to benefit them. The Baja California Sur government expects to raise 490 million pesos (approximately $25.6 million) annually from the tax, which was approved by the state Congress in 2016 but was only enacted now.

Corona beer has gone into cahoots with the Parley for the Oceans organization, which addresses major threats towards our oceans, "the most important ecosystem of our planet."

The first phase of their campaign will be dispensers in several areas of Mexico City, where by inserting three empty and clean PET bottles you get a Corona beer back! The campaign is called "Corona Better World Movement," with the beer company launching a 6-Pack Limited Edition which proceeds will go to clean a square meter of beach for each sale.

Corona will expand the program to 23 countries with the goal to clean 2 million square meters (21.5 million sq.ft.) of beaches around the world. The 6-Packs will be available in Mexico between June and August this year.

Uber Update for Cabo from the Gr**go Gazette.

I know many of our guests have said they have enjoyed having the option of using Uber in lieu of renting a car. FYI - City Cracks Down On Uber Again

The city of Los Cabos has made another assault against Uber, this time raising the fine to $1250 USD for picking people up. The company Uber pays the fines.

Every other city in the state gets to enjoy Uber, thumbing their nose at the thieving taxi drivers, but because our mayor is in the employ of the taxi union, we have to suffer.

In retaliation for the latest attempt by the mayor to protect the taxis, the Uber drivers staged a quiet protest. 20 Uber drivers drove around honking their horns Well, maybe it wasn't that quite a protest. Uber Eats also took part in the protest. What, you didn't know we had Uber Eats here? Download the app, or more likely, you have the app, just open it! Show the taxis what you think of them.

For the Spanish impaired, the sign on this car says yes to Uber.
