Welcome to observe this magnificent natural phenomenon on a guided tour to the natural reserve El Rosario, Angangueo, Michoacán state. This conifer forest hosts the biggest amount of butterflies in the world. We will explain to you every detail about the migratory journey and hibernation, reproduction and departure from the Monarch butterfly.
We are certified and bilingual federal tour guides specialized in natural excursions under the NOM-009-2002 quality rules from the Secretary of tourism.
We designed for you the safest and most comfortable route with an itinerary based on the experience of more than 7 years doing this tour with countless guests that we have had the privilege of sharing with our community of clients.
One of our main purposes doing this tour is to make our public aware about the true message that nature show us with this wonderful phenomenon, the perfection of natural cycles and the fragility of the elements that orchestrate the elegant dance of living elements, the challenges to preserve it and minimise the impact that the human being have caused. Also to learn and get inspired by the original cultures and people who have been caring and supporting this marvelous planet we have as a home. Itinerary 2 days one night Monarch butterfly tour 2024-2025
Meeting point 7:00 to 7:30 am Codo 30 Permacultours office
Departure 7:30 am
9:30 to 9:50 am 1st stop:
Jerecuaro gas station, Snacks, coffee, chips, biscuits, bathroom services. Bring toilet paper.
11:00 stop at Angangueo to use the bathroom
12:30 Arrival to El Rosario to get prepared to the excursion to the monarchs
Optional: Horseback riding 175 pesos each way on the horse led by the owner of the horse 20 mins up to the hill on a trail for horses. Then we have to walk 1 to 1.5 miles depending on where the monarchs arrive this year and they keep moving during the season
Hike: 600 steps up the hill on a concrete trail plus about 2 to 3 miles walking on a dirt road in the forest.
We spend one hour in the sanctuary by the monarchs.
Then we come down walking or taking the optional horseback riding. I recommend taking the horse up and walking down the hill to better observe the environment.
Then we have our lunch included in the price
After lunch we leave the monarch butterfly reserve back to our accommodations, ask from the hotels we use are amazing, confortable, clean and beautiful.
