The beauty of its green plumage, earned the emerald hummingbird that name and being cataloged as "the jewel of Cozumel"; It is an endemic species of the island that measures only six centimeters but is vital for pollination.

The Green Iguana (iguana iguana)

Green iguanas live in the Central American region, from Veracruz (Mexico) to the Tropic of Capricorn in Paraguay and southeast Brazil. This "giant" lizard also inhabits numerous islands in the Caribbean region such as the Caribbean islands, and on the east coast of the Pacific.

The habitat of green iguanas is characterized by high temperatures, they choose the highest branches of trees to be in a sunny place; change color according to where they live there are greens and browns
They reach between 1.5 to 2 meters, they lay between 10 to 30 eggs their gestation is between 84 and 99 days later the female looks for a safe place where the young will be born and the young will have to survive on their own They are herbivores that feed on leaves, fruits and shoots of plants.
In Cozumel it is common to see them in the jungle and in public gardens.

Tropical King Bird (Tyrannus melancholicus) This species is found in the American tropics and in the southern United States, Central America and Argentina
It lays 3 or 4 eggs, incubation is carried out by the female and both parents take care of the nest for 16 days. They only have one calf per year the young leave the nest at 18 days
The male is equal to female wing in terms of plumage and size, It feeds on insects, fruits and berries.
In Cozumel it is very common to see them in the jungle and in open areas and gardens. 🇲🇽

The Yucatán Parrot (Amazona Xantholora ) is a especies of bird in the parrot family ( Psittacidae) that populate the jungles of a good part of Yucatan Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Honduras.

In Mexico you can find them in Yucatan Cozumel and Campeche , it is green and white crown and bright red extensive eye ring and yellow lores. It lives in rain forestes and open areas .

Is a very social bird , usually firm groups of 2 to 100 individuals.

The Minimal Tern (Sternula Antillarum) , also known as the Least tern, is a migratory seabird of the grill family, and is the smallest of the tern group.

This bird is closely related to the wetlands, since every year it comes from the cost of Yucatán and arrives east of the island of Cozumel in the spring and summer months exclusively to nest and produce a new generation, lays 2 eggs 🥚 in the sand , the process of nesting is 20 to 25 days , leaves the region in September.
