Good news, was relatively gentle to and no major damage or injuries have been reported. Many businesses are open today already and the rest are expected to be open again tomorrow, including our boat trips and other tours and activities. The ferries will also be running again tomorrow.

There is no damage to the island airport and flights are starting again this afternoon.

The cruise terminals are also fine and we expect three cruise ships to arrive tomorrow.

The storm weakened to category 2 before passing about 28 miles (45km) south of the island last night. There are some branches, leaves and puddles on the streets, but islanders have their brooms out and it will be cleaned up in no time.

We hope to see you soon!

Quick update: passed to the south of the island and over the mainland at Tulum last night, she weakened to a category 2 hurricane in the end (on a scale of 1 to 5) and there doesn't appear to be any major damage so far.

As you'd expect, there's plenty of water, some trees and power posts are down and some windows are broken, but relatively light compared with much bigger storms the island has experienced in the past. Importantly, we're not aware of any reports of any injuries to people.

Things are much calmer now and we hope the sun will be out again later today, so we'll send more photos and news as soon as we can!
