"I recently took part in the Cozumel Photo Trail, and I found it to be a very fun and informative way to learn about the island of Cozumel and to improve my photography skills. Tati, the professional photographer who leads this activity, gave my mom and me a specific place and time to meet her on Saturday morning. Once we were there, she gave each of us a list of 21 objects we had to photograph, in order, as we made our way to the ending point of the photo trail. I am intentionally being vague about the starting and ending points, and the things we had to photograph along the way, so the fun is not ruined for others who want to do this activity. It is not a race, but you can think of it like a photo scavenger hunt.

I use a manual wheelchair due to a spinal cord injury, and I found this activity to be one I could do quite easily and almost entirely independently. We maintained a leisurely pace for the roughly 2.5 hour journey. The terrain is all flat, paved, and there are curb cuts at almost every intersection, so it was quite easy to navigate. I think we crossed the street once or twice where there was not a curb cut, but Tati was always there to help me if I needed a boost over a small curb or up a ramp.

Tati is an excellent and patient instructor. She is able to share her knowledge of Cozumel and its people, culture, customs, and nature in addition to her photography expertise. Not only did I learn some tricks for taking better pictures, but I learned some interesting facts about Cozumel. It was fun to see how my mom and I interpreted the same clue and have different pictures to show for it, and there is a really terrific prize for the winner at the end - a signed copy of the beautiful book "Cozumel Above the Sea" that Tati and two other photographers collaborated on.

I highly recommend this activity (or any photo tour with Tati Biermas) for anyone who enjoys photography. I brought home some really great pictures and excellent vacation memories, in addition to additional knowledge about the island of Cozumel and improved photography skills. "
