Captain Paul Watson should be applauded for his character and dedication to stopping illegal whale slaughter (and his many other achievements). Oceanico has signed the petition and we hope that our followers will also take a moment to recognize his contribution to protecting the worlds oceans and whales...and SIGN the petition for his release.
Captain Paul Watson does not deserve to be jailed by Japan for trying to stop their ILLEGAL slaughter of whales.

Please share!

On July 21 2024, Captain Paul Watson was arrested by Danish police upon arrival in Nuuk, Greenland, onboard the M/Y John Paul DeJoria. We need your help to .

Many of our guests last whale watching season got to see Rip Curl with her young calf (it was her third that we know of). They spent weeks here as her calf grew stronger for the migration north...we have been waiting and finally exciting news as they were recently seen in Monterey Bay!

Monterey Bay: Rip Curl got her name from the wave shape on her left pectoral fin, and a very wave-like dorsal fin, named by Fast Raft Ocean Safaris captain and naturalist Kate Spencer. She is believed to be a female from observation with 2017-2018 calf Rip Curl and her 2020-2021 calf Quicksilver (Ca...

Beautiful morning offshore of Huatulco with a large pod of Common dolphins (50-60), several small pods of Spotted dolphins (15-20), lots of Olive Ridley sea turtles and one Pacific Green sea turtle!

Even after the rain the visibility on the reefs in the was great with loads of reef fish, including the Moorish Idol, one of our favorites!

Still so much to learn about the whales and their role in maintaining balance in the oceans...Today's article...Whale P**p!

Scientists who study whales have no idea how much they eat and p**p, and what the loss of that p**p might have done to the ecosystems.

Tropical breeding areas (like Huatulco) may become too warm for Humpback whales...for the Central American Humpback population segment, still listed as endangered of extinction, not good news...

Humpback whales have been making a conservation comeback – but warming seas are putting their recovery at risk.

Happy !

Today we celebrate the 38 species of dolphins found around the world.

Did you know that we have already recorded 11 species of dolphins here in Huatulco?

Of these 11 dolphin species, 4 are unique subspecies only found in our Eastern Tropical Pacific (ETP) area, plus 2 more species are suggested ETP ecotypes!

This level of specialization in dolphins can only be found along our coasts and the Eastern Tropical Pacific.

Thanks to everyone who joined us today to explore offshore of Huatulco, visit the dolphins, sea turtles and snorkel the reefs - what a way to celebrate World Dolphin Day! 🤩🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐢💙

This morning it was a Common dolphin stampede like we have never seen in Huatulco! Several hundred Common dolphins were racing offshore, perhaps rushing to feed on the big bait balls with the tuna...it was a wild morning - we also saw 3 small groups of Spotted dolphins, 20+ Olive Ridley sea turtles, 2 Yellow Bellied sea snakes and an Eagle ray while snorkeling in the National Park! 🤩🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐢🐢🐍💙

Thanks to everyone who joined our Ocean Adventures today, it was a thrilling morning!

Time is flying by...in about 2 months or less we expect to start seeing Humpback whales arriving along the coast of Huatulco...we can't wait!

We got a notice that 'Inverse' was sighted in California yesterday...hopefully feeding lots and getting ready for another mating season with lots of activity 🐳🐳

Check out the interactive map via our friends at HappyWhale

Moss Landing, CA: "Inverse" was named in Monterey Bay for the white line on black and the black and white dots that seem like the tail is its own inverse. We have known Inverse since 2009 thanks to the Cascadia Research Collective catalog and database including contributions by collaborating researc...
