On this Thanksgiving Day, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey.

Born to Baja is a dream that has been taking shape over the years. As locals, we’ve witnessed how many people carry misconceptions about our country. But the truth is, all we’ve ever known here on this breathtaking peninsula are the wonders we share on our social media. Changing that perception has always been one of our goals because the reality we live is a world apart from those stereotypes.

Today, things feel different—and it’s all thanks to you. To everyone who supports us here, to those who have given us the chance to be part of their lives, and to all of you who have created unforgettable memories with us: we’re endlessly grateful.

We feel so blessed to have been born in a place rich in nature, stunning landscapes, and kind-hearted people. A special thanks to those who provide their services with such positivity, making every adventure even more magical. And to our incredible team, who work tirelessly every single day to keep this dream alive: thank you.

These are just a few highlights from our unforgettable time with family and friends. We had the incredible opportunity to help the whales by removing marine lice, observe them up close, and even touch. It was a breathtaking experience filled with countless magical moments.

As a local in this region, I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement as the new year approaches. It means it’s almost time to reunite with these magnificent creatures and reconnect in such a special way with these gentle giants.

But what truly brings me joy is sharing this incredible corner of the world—my home—with those who visit us. Watching them fall in love with this place just as I have, and seeing their faces light up with pure joy as they come face-to-face with a whale, is the most rewarding part of it all.

Don’t miss the chance to live this extraordinary adventure! The season is just around the corner. Drop a “🐳” in the comments, and I’ll send you all the details to join us on this once-in-a-lifetime journey.

Fin whales, often called the “greyhounds of the sea,” are the second largest animals on Earth, just behind blue whales. Despite their massive size—reaching up to 85 feet long—they’re incredibly fast, capable of swimming at speeds up to 25 miles per hour.

These sleek giants have a unique asymmetrical coloring on their heads: their lower right jaw is white while the left side remains dark. Their powerful, low-frequency songs can travel hundreds of miles, making them some of the loudest creatures on the planet.

“Science education faculty Dr. Tammy Lee and Bonnie Glass led a study abroad trip to Baja California Sur, Mexico for eight ECU students to explore how climate change is affecting marine ecosystems in North Carolina and Mexico. One of the biggest draws of the trip was to observe the gray whales, a species of whales that complete an approximately 12,000-mile round-trip migration between the Arctic and Baja.”
