El Grito de Dolores is considered the act with which the Mexican War of Independence began. According to tradition, it consisted of the call that the priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, in the company of Ignacio Allende and Juan Aldama, made to his parishioners in order for them to take up arms against New Spain in the early morning of September 16, 1810, for which he rang one of the bells of the Parish of the People of Dolores, today Dolores Hidalgo.
Today we celebrate another year that the independence war started, not on a May 5th 🤭.
