Cliff Palace, Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado

Had a wonderful tour with an indigenous native descendant of the people who built and lived in these cliff dwellings. The young man provided us not only with context of his ancestors decisions to live here and why they left, but also the current generation of descendant’s sentiments of this sacred grounds and their continued ties to protect and educate.

Driving out after a great morning of fly fishing with the family. Flowing out of the base of 11 Mile Reservoir, the canyon is miles of Colorado Gold Medal fishing waters in a beautiful Rocky Mountain setting.

Morning sunrise at Schwabacher Landing, Grand Tetons National Park. A long cloud in front of the rising sun made a nice natural filter to highlight the Teton Range. It is located outside the main park gates but is still maintained by NPS.

Heavy use of the boating area destroyed the landing and surrounding waters. But walking by the site fenced off, NPS is hard at work restoring it.

Chapel hill ruins view of Matera, Italia

The cave pocked hillside across the canyon from Matera, Italia tells the history of the city and its people reaching back to the original Greek settlers. The stone from the caves shelters helped develop and shape the city.

Delicate Arch, Arches National Park, Utah

There was a long line of folks waiting to take pictures under the Arch. I asked a kind lady when she got to the front of the line to hold everyone back for 10 seconds so the photographers could get a shot with no people in view. ❤️ thank you for clearing the view for us!

Starry Night supporting UKR in Brugge, Belgium

Walking around the canals at sunset in Brugge brings classic images captured of the town. Old dutch architecture and canal bridges make beautiful scenes on their own. But sometimes you come across a unique situation that you just have to capture.

Second Temple of Hera, Paestum, Italia

Just south of Salerno is the small town of Paestum, an ancient Greek city with beautifully preserved ruins. After enjoying some gelato across the street, I started wandering at sunset through the national museum dedicated to preserving these magnificent structures.

The gallery of geographic maps, Vatican Museum, Vatican City.

One of my most favorite parts of the Vatican Museum, getting the early morning tour provides a crowdless and peaceful view of the major exhibits… and allows for great shots of the museum for travel photographers. The maps commissioned in 1580’s are an amazing feat from the cartographers of those times to not only accurately map, but beautifully illustrate the regions and cities of old Italy.

Matera, Italia

On a whim, took the advice from a coworker for a weekend trip having explored most of the classic tourist locales in southern Italy. This magical place shared one precious surprise after another, from the ancient architecture, history, waterfalls, nature, and of course food. Exploring the caves across the canyon at sunset reveals magical views of the town perfectly framed by the entrance of its ancient predecessors.
