Wildlife Experiences for Under-Privileged Kids in La Paz.

Some of you may know that we have recently been raising funds through the sale of whale shark keychains, t-shirts and donations, enabling us to take some children from an impoverished community to see the beauty of their front garden.

I thank everyone that supported this initiative so far. We are still running this program with islands trips and hopefully soon, trips for some the kids to swim with oceanic giant mantas!

We encountered many groups of Pacific cownose rays (Rhinoptera steindachneri), not to be confused with Mobula species, in La Paz Bay yesterday each consisting of hundreds of individuals.
Many groups of them could easily be seen while we scanned the ocean for whale sharks and other marine life.
We were luckily enough to swim with one the groups for several minutes :)

View gray whales [Eschrichtius robustus] in Magdalena Bay, BCS, Mexico whilst helping us contribute to university directed research for the species.

We are super pleased to announce that we have agreed to collaborate with researchers at UABCS University in La Paz, who have maintained a monitoring and census program for the species for the last five years. Led by Lorena Viloria, under the direction of Dr. Jorge Urban, photo-identification and census data is collected and catalogued to help answer questions about abundance, site fidelity and population dynamics of the Magdalena Bay Pacific gray whales. During our trips we will gather and contribute data to the photo-identification study.

We are truly honoured to have the opportunity to use our responsible gray whale tours to contribute to better understand the species and habitats that we are so fortunate to have here in Baja California Sur :)

Our next trip is planned for Tuesday 13 February departing from the malecon in La Paz. We have limited spaces available. If you are interested in viewing gray whales whilst directly contributing to this ongoing research project then click the link for info.
