The Zaci cenote is one of the most emblematic places in Valladolid. Full of culture and tradition. This place is the second point we visited on our morning tour and today I come to tell you a little bit about the cenotes. Yucatan has approximately 8,000 cenotes discovered. But there are only 3 types of cenotes. The cenote is open, semi-open and closed. The Mayans considered the cenotes sacred places and did various activities in the different types of cenotes, such as drinking water, doing Mayan rituals and also to protect themselves from climatic phenomena. Nowadays cenotes are used for extracting water, swimming and recreational activities.
