Spider Monkey
The spider monkey, Ateles, lives in the tropical forests of Central and South America. It weighs between 6 and 10 kg and can live up to 27 years in the wild. It feeds mainly on fruits, leaves, and insects, and lives in large groups that separate during the day to search for food. It uses its prehensile tail to move agilely between the trees and alerts its group with loud sounds when danger is detected.
