Woohoo! Women power by power women! It's our last board/shareholder meeting. (Ok ok it was last Friday...now only putting up the photo because Ming a bit slow this week 😉). We laughed. We felt sad. Then cheered ourselves up by planning a get together with the Salt family!

It has been 17 years since 1 April 2005 when Salt first opened its doors. We have grown together, laughed together, cried together. We have welcomed many into the family and have had to say goodbye to some of our closest and dearest.
This anniversary is a special one as, while we celebrate the years we have had, it is also our last as a company. At the end of April, Salt will officially close. We will individually be continuing our own projects from running workshops, writing plays and acting in movies to just spending more time looking after loved ones and families.
We will definitely still be making more memories as Salters (you can't take the Salt out of a Salter) and will continue to always be family.
To all who have been there working with us in the Salt mines, and to those who have supported us as friends, family, clients -- a big thank you for journeying and sharing your lives with us.
Happy anniversary Salt! (Spent the morning remembering the crazy times with Hisham and Shareem and then having some crazy laughs over breakfast. Watch this space for more memories in the coming month...)

As we say goodbye to the year that was, let us not leave behind the lessons we have learnt, the kindness shown and all the love we received from strangers, family and friends. Let us remember the simple pleasures--the joy of grocery shopping, sitting at the same table with friends, receiving a cake out of the blue, ordering everything from fresh coconut to steaks online and...the empty roads. We are grateful for all of the little magical moments that have brought us through last year and which we will bring with us to make 2021 a year of openness, connectedness and compassion. Happy new year everyone!

Hisham has touched so many lives. He was kind, generous to a fault, an extremely loyal friend and son who took care of his mum single-handedly till she passed away late last year. He was a great editor for NST's Youthquake, grooming and shaping so many young writers who have grown up to be lawyers, political analysts, doctors, teachers. He was also a co-founder of Salt Media, an editorial company of former NST editors and writers, where he helped to turn a bunch of colleagues into family. He had an inexhaustible love for life, insisting on dancing and singing his way through the worst of times (his famous dance moves included the helicopter and the split). He wanted to be Mariah Carey and Marilyn Monroe rolled into one and could re-enact Korean horror movies with deadly precision. He loved cake, nasi lemak and roast duck and his idea of a high protein diet was a bucket of KFC. He always gave his best whether it was as editor, writer, dancer, actor, friend and son. We miss you so dearly Hisham. We will miss your random calls to say I love you, your harebrained schemes to make us all rich and all your crazy stories.

Happy 15th birthday Salt! We celebrate today in a somewhat reflective mood, not just because we are all sitting quietly at home, but because it was a year ago that we made the decision to change the structure of our workplace and turn ourselves into a project-basis team. We have been blessed that most of us have still been able to work together in some way or other along the year. But it has meant that the last year has been a year of adjustments and, we hope for everyone, growth as we explored different aspects of our lives. Some are scriptwriting, others are enhancing their freelance skills, some are becoming exquisite bakers and yet others are delving deep into their love for Korean dramas. In all of this, we remain the Salt family and we will look forward to a year filled with discovery and opportunity! 🥰

We received this from Kenanga a couple of days ago with a lovely note from Sze Phing. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. We are happy that the book (available in bookstores) hit all the right spots with the team and with the inspirational Tan Sri Tengku Noor Zakiah herself. It’s also such a timely reminder of Shareem’s beautiful prose and the care she took with every project. It would have been three months yesterday and we miss you Shareem! ...We eat the chocolate on your behalf.

Salters day out. Went to say hi to Shareem, then lunched together, watched Rocketman and topped it off with ice cream! Sometimes you just need to stop and enjoy the little things in life.

Yesterday, Salt lost a family member. We love you and miss you Shareem! You were always a true friend and we will keep you close to our hearts always. We were privileged to have shared and made so many memories together. And for that we are eternally grateful.

Congratulations The Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP) on your 100th anniversary! “Planters’ Centenary: The Story of The Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP)” was an extremely satisfying project for us, from documenting ISP’s journey, pulling out old photos and advertisements that gave us interesting insights into the past to speaking to some of the most prominent personalities in the industry. Will post inside pages soon.
