14/10/2020

Locally known as Sang Nyuk Mee, Pork Noodle is an icon food of Sabah. Malaysians from other states think Sang Nyuk Mee is same as Mixed Pork Noodle, but Sang Nyuk Mee is totally Sabah style. The meat slices are fresh, smooth and tender. Sang Nyuk Mee literally means Raw Pork Noodle. Don’t worry, the pork is not eaten raw. It actually means the meat is made of fresh raw meat.

In Kon Lau Mee style, noodles are served in separate bowl and mixed in aromatic dark soy sauce and pork oil, together with another bowl of tasty pork broth with pork slices, meatballs and internal organs (e.g. liver, intestines).

The Pork soup is the best part. The taste is deep and satisfying. Pork slices, meatballs and livers are given in soup by default.

Welcome Seafood Restaurant is the most popular seafood restaurant in Kota Kinabalu. The secret of their success is simple: taste delicious seafood at reasonable prices. The restaurant started with about 20 tables with 10 seats. Now, their business is so good that they have expanded their position almost from the beginning to the end of a block, with more than 50 tables. FYI, their restaurant in KK is a branch of their "headquarters" (the first restaurant) in the Beverly Industrial Park in Bang Dusan, Penampang.
The best seafood is fresh seafood. They have many fish tanks for swimming and live fish, lobster, babylon, shrimp, comb shells, etc. You just need to point here and there to choose your favorite seafood, and they will be delivered within 10 minutes.

Danum Valley Conservation Area (DVCA) was an informal protected area in the Ulu Segama Forest Reserve of primary, undisturbed, predominantly lowland rainforest with an outstanding complement of Borneo flora and fauna. It was part of the almost one million ha forest concession assigned to Yayasan Sabah. In 1976, WWF-Malaysia suggested that the area be declared a national park. The Danum Valley Conservation Area (DVCA) is a 438 sq. km tract. However, Yayasan Sabah Board of Trustess resolved on November 28, 1980, to leave the area within Yayasan Sabah concession but shall leave it unlogged for the purpose of conservation. Thereafter it is known as "Danum Valley Conservation Area".

Limau-Limau Café is a surprising find in Malacca. Though the place has received rave reviews it has managed to fly under the radar, with most people stumbling upon the place on their Jonker Walk explorations. A kooky bistro with a definite upmarket ambiance, it is set opposite Kampung Kling Mosque.

The breezy bistro has blindingly-bright acid green walls – (limau means lime in Malay). Soft jazz music and ice-cold pints make it a favorite spot to while the afternoon away: in fact a lot of its customers seem reluctant to leave when their food and drinks are finished.

Cheng Hoon Teng Temple is one of the most notable landmarks in Malacca. Set near the Hindu temple Sri Pogyatha Vinoyagar along Jalan Hang Lekiu (in Jonker Street) this Chinese temple is billed as the oldest Buddhist place of worship in the country. Built in 1646, it is also known as the ‘Merciful Cloud Temple’.

The temple is dedicated to Kuan Yin, Goddess of Mercy. A black, gold and red-robed statue of the goddess stands in the central prayer hall. Cheng Hoon Teng temple was constructed by Chan Lak Koa, son-in-law to Captain Li, Malacca’s second Chinese kapitan (a mediatory position created by the Dutch East India Company which made it possible for a non-white to govern Malacca’s diverse ethnic communities.)
