Lake Tekapo is the second-largest of three roughly parallel lakes running north–south along the northern edge of the Mackenzie Basin in the South Island of New Zealand (the others are Lake Pukaki and Lake Ōhau). It covers an area of 83 km2 and is at an altitude of 710 m above sea level. It is fed at its northern end by both the braided Godley River and Macaulay River, which have their sources in the Southern Alps to the north. The meltwater from the Southern Alps is tinged with a light turquoise colour from the glacial silt. This gives Lake Tekapo its distinctive colour.

Riccarton House and Pūtaringamotu Bush in Christchurch, New Zealand, is a unique heritage site encompassing historic buildings, parkland, gardens, and an ancient podocarp forest with kahikatea trees up to 600 years old.

Riccarton House was commissioned by Jane Deans (1823–1911) after the death of her husband, John Deans (1820–1854). It was built in three stages, with construction starting in 1855 and her moving in during March 1856. The house was first extended when her only son, John Deans II (1853–1902), turned 21 to house the many guests for the occasion. In 1900, the third stage of the house was built; this addition designed by the architect Robert England. The style contains elements of both Victorian and Edwardian architectures.

The highest pass over the Southern Alps, Arthur's Pass was historically known to Maori hunting parties as a route between east and west.

The eastern side of Arthur's Pass National Park is characterised by wide, shingle-filled riverbeds and vast beech forests. The western side of the park, where wet weather is more common than dry, has deeply gorged rivers flowing through dense rainforest. Down the middle of 'the great divide' is an alpine dreamland of snow-covered peaks, glaciers and scree slopes.

Castle Hill is a location and a high country station in New Zealand's South Island. It is located at an altitude of 700 metres, close to State Highway 73 between Springfield and Arthur's Pass. The hill was so named because of the imposing array of limestone boulders in the area reminiscent of an old, run-down stone castle.

It is widely considered to be the epitome of New Zealand's South Island climbing scene, where on any given day one can find rock climbers bouldering the unique limestone out cropping. This area has recently seen more visitors, as nearby Flock Hill station was used for the filming of the climactic battle scenes of the 2005 movie, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Riding through the desert on a camel is incredible. You feel like a Bedouin or a Nomad. The scenery is amazing – red sand, dunes for miles, the dark blue sky, and unless you ride to an oasis which you may well do, there is nothing around. Of course, when you do a camel desert safari, there is in fact plenty around, you just don’t see it easily.

A group of camels is called a caravan of camels, and we have all seen photographs as they walk through the desert in a long line, sometimes up to 1000 camels at once. Camels were used as carriers of goods, including salt, cotton, tea and gold, and were an important part of the Trans-Saharan trade route. Their specially adapted body features, eyes, eyelids and hair, protect them from the sun and they can walk for days without water. Their humps are filled with fat, not water as previously thought, which will keep them going for days.

The Dyrhólaey Peninsula is a 120-metre promenade famed for its staggering views of Iceland’s South Coast, as well as its historic lighthouse and wealth of birdlife. It is home to a rock arch of the same name.

Dyrhólaey, which translates to Door Hill Island, is of volcanic origin and was once an island before joining up to the Icelandic mainland. In ancient times, passing sailors used to refer to Dyrhólaey as ‘Cape Portland’.

Dyrhólaey’s most instantly recognisable attraction is the promenade’s massive rock arch, a result of centuries of erosion. As a result, its name is in direct reference to this enormous arch. In fact, this natural feature is so large and dramatic that one daredevil pilot even flew through it, back in 1993. Boats can easily cruise through its opening.

Studlagil Canyon can be found in East Iceland in the Glacier Valley called Jokuldalur. With the largest number of basalt rock columns in Iceland and a stunning blue-green glacial river to contrast, Studlagil is one of Iceland's hidden gems.

Stuðlagil Canyon was created when the force of a river so powerful forced its way from the Highlands to the North of the island. The force of this glacial river, which is 150 kilometers, and its water level had such great volume, that the area was considered dangerous. As a result, the area around the canyon was inhabited only by sheep for a long time.

Húsavík is the oldest settlement in Iceland, besides being the largest town in Þingeyjarsýsla district and the service centre for the surrounding area. The town is known for whale watching tours in Skjálfandi Bay and is often referred to as the Whale Capital of Iceland. Up to 23 species of whale, including the Blue Whale, as well as large colonies of puffins can be found in or around the bay. One can experience the gigantic life-size of whales in the local Whale Museum where, amongst others, a 22m long skeleton of a Blue Whale is on display.

Húsavík is linked with Eurovision. The film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire and Saga is based on two characters Lars Erickssong played by Will Ferrell and Sigrit Ericksdottir played by Rachel McAdams. Húsavík is the hometown of the duo and the title song is also named Húsavík. It's likely you will see some locals from the movie if you visit Húsavík.

Dimmuborgir, or the Dark Fortress, is a dramatic expanse of lava in the Lake Mývatn area. Steeped with folklore, it is one of the most popular destinations for travellers to north Iceland.

Dimmuborgir was formed in an eruption that occurred in the area 2,300 years ago; the Lake Mývatn area is highly volcanic, as can be further seen in nearby locations such as the geothermal Námaskarð Pass, the hot spring cave Grjótagjá, and the dramatic Krafla fissure.

As lava flowed across the area, it passed over a lake, causing it to boil. This both quickened the cooling of the lava and caused pillars of steam to shatter parts of it. After it solidified, Dimmuborgir area became defined by large stacks of rock and many caves and caverns, caused by bubbles of intense steam.

As such, many have compared Dimmuborgir to a medieval castle, with its many hidden chambers and its rising towers.

Passu is a small village in the Gilgit Baltistan region of northern Pakistan, near Gulmit. One of the most spectacular views on the Karakorum Highway is the Passu cones also known as Tupopdan and Passu Cathedral. Rising to an altitude of 6,106 meters straight up with steep slopes, Passu cones are also called Hot Mountains as the snow doesn’t sit long on top of their cone or pyramid-like structure.

Passu cones are situated in Passu village in Upper Hunza alongside the Karakorum Highway. Passu village has always been the best place to visit and a famous tourist destination mainly because of the magnificent Passu cones and the gigantic Passu sar mountain standing 7, 478 meters tall. It also features a glacier known as the Passu Glacier.
