Monbetsu (紋別市, Monbetsu-shi) is a city located in Okhotsk Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan; on the Sea of Okhotsk. The name comes from Ainu Mopet (Quiet River), Ainu "-pet" would be interpreted "-betsu" in Japanese as well of other city names in Hokkaido.

Blue Pond (青い池, Aoi-ike) is a man-made pond feature in Biei, Hokkaido, Japan. It is the result of works on the Biei River (美瑛川), carried out after the 1988 eruption of Mount Tokachi, to protect the town of Biei from volcanic mudflows. The colour is thought to result from the accidental presence of colloidal aluminium hydroxide in the water.

Every year, the Hokuryu Sunflower Village attracts more than 200,000 visitors to its fields. The main attraction is the town’s scenery, featuring around 2 million blooming sunflowers on a broad 23-hectare field. The sunflowers are at their peak in early Aug. Every year, the Sunflower Festival is held from late Jul. until mid-Aug. During this festival, the World Sunflower Corner is available for visitors to appreciate over 30 different sunflower varieties grown in the fields. Along with other activities held at the festival, the giant sunflower maze is among the most popular. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely tour of this beautiful field by renting bicycles or riding the colorful sightseeing bus.

Jigokudani (地獄谷) or "Hell Valley" is a spectacular, appropriately named valley just above the town of Noboribetsu Onsen, which displays hot steam vents, sulfurous streams and other volcanic activity. It is a main source of Noboribetsu's hot spring waters.

Farm Tomita is one of the many farms in the area which create this reputation by planting giant fields of lavender and other colorful crops such as tulips. Right, is a picture of one of the many scenic vistas available to tourists who visit the farm. The farm also sells many products based on the lavender it produces, from lavender scented candles and soap to lavender flavored drinks and ice cream.

Lake Tōya (洞爺湖, Tōya-ko) is a volcanic caldera lake in Shikotsu-Toya National Park, Abuta District, Hokkaidō, Japan. It is part of "Toya Caldera and Usu Volcano Global Geopark" which joins in Global Geoparks Network. The stratovolcano of Mount Usu lies on the southern rim of the caldera. The lake is nearly circular, being 10 kilometers in diameter from the eastwest and 9 kilometers from the northsouth. The town of Tōyako comprises most of the area surrounding the lake and the town of Sōbetsu is located on the eastern side.

This is not Mount Fuji!!

Mount Yōtei (羊蹄山, Yōtei-zan, literally "sheep-hoof mountain") is an active stratovolcano located in Shikotsu-Toya National Park, Hokkaidō, Japan. It is also called Yezo Fuji or Ezo Fuji (蝦夷富士), "Ezo" being an old name for the island of Hokkaido, because it resembles Mount Fuji. The mountain is also known as Makkari Nupuri. It is one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan.

Shakotan is a beautiful coast that has been selected as one of Japan's 100 best beaches. It is a spot where can see the clear cobalt blue ocean with a color described as "Shakotan Blue."

As you pass through a small tunnel that only pedestrians can pass through, you will see sheer cliffs, gigantic rocks, and the "Shakotan Blue" sea, which is truly a spectacular view! The transparency is so high that can see the bedrock of the ocean floor, and the magnificent, sparkling ocean spreads out before you. Shimamui Coast is the only spot where you can go down to the water's edge in the area surrounded by sheer cliffs.

Arrival in Sapporo!!

Sapporo (札幌, "important river flowing through a plain" in Ainu language) is the capital of Hokkaido and Japan's fifth largest city. Sapporo is also one of the nation's youngest major cities. In 1857, the city's population stood at just seven people.

Goodbye Greenland!! End of 6 days 5 nights Greenland tour.

Greenland is a North American island autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. It is the larger of two autonomous territories within the Kingdom, the other being the Faroe Islands; the citizens of both territories are full citizens of Denmark. As Greenland is one of the Overseas Countries and Territories of the European Union, citizens of Greenland are European Union citizens. Greenland lies between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. It is the world's largest island, and is the location of the northernmost point of land in the world – Kaffeklubben Island off the northern coast is the world's northernmost undisputed point of land, and Cape Morris Jesup on the mainland was thought to be so until the 1960s.

Kangerlussuaq is a small town in western Greenland. It's at the eastern end of a deep fjord. The town is known for its airport, which is Greenland’s major international transport hub. The airport’s Kangerlussuaq Museum illustrates the town’s past as a U.S. airbase during WWII. A road runs northeast from town to the vast Greenland Ice Sheet. Here, Russell Glacier is a vantage point for ice-calving events.

This hike to one of the planets most beautiful places, is a MUST DO for every guest visiting Ilulissat. We will walk through the Sermermiut Valley (UNESCO) to see the remains of the old settlements dating more than 4500 years back in time and continuing to the viewpoint - the amazing icebergs that take our breath away!

We walk through ilulissat towards the UNESCO site on a route that lead us to the amazing viewpoint of the icefiord located in the outskirt of town, from here we have a breathtaking view of the icebergs. It is a rather easy hike (approx. 4 km total), but we have to walk up hill, walk on uneven terrain and climb a few stairs, in order to get the best views.

Ilulissat, formerly Jakobshavn or Jacobs haven, is the municipal seat and largest town of the Avannaata municipality in western Greenland, located approximately 350 km north of the Arctic Circle. With a population of 4,670 as of 2020, it is the third-largest city in Greenland, after Nuuk and Sisimiut. The city is home to almost as many sled-dogs as people.

In direct translation, Ilulissat is the Kalaallisut word for "Icebergs". The nearby Ilulissat Icefjord is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and has made Ilulissat the most popular tourist destination in Greenland. Tourism is now the town's principal industry. The city neighbours the Ilulissat Icefjord, where there are enormous icebergs from the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere.

The service and atmosphere is informal and the Disko Bay provides the view for a lovely dinner in the cozy restaurant. Ilulissat and Greenland is something special and the restaurant reflect that in all their servings in the restaurant, thus we have memorable dining experience during our stay in Ilulissat.

The kitchen uses products like fresh fish from the local fishermen and Greenlandic reindeer and musk ox from Kangerlussuaq. The general focus in the menu is great flavor. The sommeliers have made a wine list with some wonderful wines, that complement their menu perfectly.

Hike to hidden waterfall and lunch in Oqaatsut!!

Feel the mist of a thunderous!waterfall and explore one of the hidden gems of the Discobay area on this combined 5 hours boat and hiking tour. On the beautiful easy hike through true arctic tundra we came along fresh water rivers, crystal clear lakes and amazing views of the Discobay. After 30 minutes of hiking, we reached the thunderous and picturesque waterfall and had a refreshing taste of the purest ice cold glacial fresh water.

We had plenty of time to explore the area, get up close to the waterfall and take the best photos. We had then hike back to the boat and sail to the small settlement of Oqaatsut.

Before eating a delicious lunch at the local restaurant (with local produce only) we did a walk around the settlement with an in-depth introduction to the history and everyday life of Oqaatsut. After lunch we had sail back to Ilulissat, hoping to spot whales on the way.

Eqip Sermia is the Greenlandic name for the Eqi Glacier. The glacier is one of the most active in Greenland. It is not as big as Sermeq Kujalleq, which is located at the mouth of Ilulissat Ice Fjord. However, Eqi Glacier is more accessible, and have the opportunity to get closer to it.

The glacier itself is approximately five kilometers wide and is an impressive sight. It is a unique experience to sit in a boat in front of the glacier and wait for pieces of ice to fall off. When that happens, will be fascinated by the huge bang that comes when the ice breaks – followed by the big splash when the ice hits the water.

The Greenland Ice Sheet is formed of snow, and when the old snow is pushed down by the weight of the newer snow, it becomes ice. The air between the individual snowflakes will eventually become air bubbles under pressure. When the large glacier calves, this air is released again, giving the explosive sounds.
