QUICK FACTS

1.The entire belum Temengor Forest comprise of 4 Forest Reserves.

2. Its size is about 300,00 hectares.

3. It had been a 'Black' area from 1948-1989.

4. The Temngor Lake is about 15,200 hectares in size.

5. The depth varies from 80-100m at its deepest point.

6. The lake has 82 island which are the un-submerged hills.

7. Pulau Banding is one of the large Island and is about 261 hectares.

8. Two abroginal tribes- the Temiar and the Jahai tribes live in this forest complex.

9. 10 species of Hornbills can be found in this complex.

10. 3 species of Rafflesia are native to this forest complex.

2. Tropical rainforest worldwide produce about 30-40% of the world's oxygen.

3. Rainforest act as the world thermostat by regulating temperatures & weather patterns.

4. Rainforest are critical in maintain the Earths limited supply of drinking & fresh water.

5. Fifty-seven percent of the world's forest , including most tropical forest, are located in developing countries.

6. Nearly 90 percent of 1.2 bilion people living in poverty worldwide depend on forests for their livelihood.

7. Less than one percent of the tropical rainforest species have been analyzed for their medicinal value.
