Congratulations to WWF-Malaysia’s and RIMAU’s Anti-poaching projects for winning the Star Golden Hearts Award (SGHA) 2024. These projects hire local Orang Asli community in the Belum-Temengor landscape as patrollers, as the frontline of protection, forming a strong line of defence by the people within the landscape.
In Royal Belum State Park, personnel from Perak State Parks Corporation, WWF-Malaysia, RIMAU, and Department of Wildlife’s Community Rangers make up the bulk of routine patrollers in the landscape. Through and well-coordinated strategies and operations, and collaboration with Royal Malaysian Police, Forestry Department, and the army, we have managed to keep poaching threat at minimal level since 2019.
We acknowledge and thank the all the partner organisations, agencies, as well as local communities for the concerted effort and commitment in protecting and conserving wildlife especially the Malayan tigers.
