PETALING JAYA: Singapore has eased its quarantine rules for several countries, including Malaysia.

Malaysians are now allowed to quarantine at their place of residence rather than at isolation centres from Oct 27.

Malaysia will be moved from Category IV to Category III of Singapore’s categories of border restrictions from Oct 27.

Channel News Asia (CNA) quoted the Singapore health ministry as saying Malaysians can serve their 10-day stay-home notice (SHN) at their declared residence or accommodation from Oct 27 onwards.

This is regardless of the traveller’s vaccination status, travel history and household members.

“By default, they will not be allocated accommodation in any dedicated SHN facilities,” said the city-state’s health ministry.

All travellers must strictly remain quarantined in their accommodations and will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device throughout the 10 days.

The ministry warned that action would be taken against those who breached their quarantine or made false declarations.

Meanwhile, travellers from Category III countries will no longer have to undergo an RT-PCR test upon arrival. Instead, they only have to take the test at the end of their quarantine period.

They also no longer have to be screened with rapid-test kits on the third and seventh days of their arrival in Singapore during their SHN.

Other countries that will be added to Category III of Singapore’s border restrictions are Cambodia, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Mongolia, Qatar, Rwanda, Samoa, Seychelles, South Africa, Tonga, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.

Meanwhile, travellers with a 14-day travel history to Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be allowed to enter or transit through Singapore again.

Singapore, Malaysia agree to allow cross-border travel for some residents and business travellers

SINGAPORE: Singapore and Malaysia have agreed to allow cross-border travel for certain groups of people, including residents who hold long-term immigration passes for business and work purposes.
This was discussed between Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his Malaysian counterpart Muhyiddin Yassin in a telephone call on Friday (Jun 26), said Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in a press statement on Saturday.

The two leaders agreed to establish a Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) and a Periodic Commuting Arrangement (PCA) to facilitate the needs of different groups for cross-border travel.
The RGL will facilitate cross-border travel for essential business and official purposes between both countries.
Travellers would have to adhere to a set of COVID-19 prevention and public health measures, which are under discussion and will have to be mutually agreed upon by both countries, said MFA.

The PCA, on the other hand, will allow Singapore and Malaysia residents who hold long-term immigration passes for business and work purposes in the other country to periodically return to their home countries for short-term home leave.
"They will be able to return home for leave after spending at least three consecutive months in their country of work, and they will be allowed to re-enter their country of work after their home leave," MFA added.
Mr Lee reiterated Singapore’s commitment to address the needs of Singaporeans and Malaysians who were previously commuting between both countries before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted travel.
Both leaders agreed that any bilateral arrangement would have to include mutually agreed public health protocols, to preserve the public health and safety of citizens on both sides, while taking into account the medical resources available in both countries.
MFA said Mr Lee and Mr Muhyiddin have tasked their officials to "work expeditiously" on the operational details of the RGL and PCA.
Officials will also continue discussions on other proposals to gradually facilitate more cross-border movement of people, to ensure a stable recovery by both Singapore and Malaysia from the COVID-19 situation, the ministry added.

🇲🇾Cuti-cuti Malaysia【The highest cafe in Penang】☕️have you been there?

📍【Kopi Hutan】located at Penang Hill, It is about 730 meters above sea level, which so happens to be the highest cafe in Penang.

Kopi refers to coffee and Hutan refers to the forest in malay. Well, expect yourself to be surrounded with lots of trees and enjoy great foods here.

Away and disconnected from the busy city and have a cup of coffee here! Especially when the virus is everywhere lately , I guess an open air cafe, back to mother nature would definitely one of the best choice!❤️

You may walk around 20mins, 1.5km to the cafe or there is also buggy service at Upper Station, RM30 to Kopi Hutan.

Don’t leave without visiting Monkey Cup Garden. The garden has a collection of various Nephentes (Monkey Cup) species cultivated in a beautifully designed mossy garden at the right environment. There are original as well as hybrid species from Malaysia, Indonesia, India, The Philippines, and other countries. There will be a dedicated tour guide explain and show you around the garden.
