Mount Kinabalu Coffee
About 40 years ago, almost 60% of the residents of Kampung Kiau Nuluh planted Coffee Arabica. But due to market value and difficulty to sell the beans at that time, most villagers abandoned their farms (today has become a secondary forest). Ginsos, the only farmer who persist and continue to preserve the farm. Today, his Coffee Arabica farm has become one of the touristβs attractions via Guas Nabalu Homestay (a community-based eco-tourism). His farm is now able to produce over 1 tonne of fresh coffee cherry on an annual basis. The coffee is being processed using the authentic method (using firewood), which gives the coffee itself a very special aroma and unique taste. Today the farm is known as Mount Kinabalu Coffee Farmstay. Apart from producing coffee beans for market purpose, Mount Kinabalu Coffee Farmstay also offers a complete coffee harvesting and processing process experience from the farm to your cup.
Mount Kinabalu Coffee Farmstay established with the aim to ignite the desire, the courage, and the hope the villagers have once to turn Kampung Kiau Nuluh as Arabica Coffee producer one more time and make it sustainable. If you're currently using imported coffee, give this local coffee a try.
