Have you ever wondered what Bundusan means? You do a google and you will find… hotel, food, and if you prowl that area, oh the traffic jam.
Bundusan it is actually lepironia articulata, or grey sage, which is is a type of cyperaceae that grows in water-logged areas and harvested by the Kadazan and Dusuns of Sabah. They are woven into mats to dry paddy and also used in social settings and rituals. Unfortunately nowadays, not many know about the bundusan mat and what the plant looks like. To rub more salt to the wound, there are not many left who have the knowledge of this plant and the skills to weave them. Climate change and land reclamation are also the contributing factors towards the scarcity of this plant in Sabah.

We don’t usually share what goes on behind, we have team of mechanics, electricians, that runs down all the cars before and after every event.

We have housekeeping team that changes the sheets and towels, cleans the interior, tops up and replaces the toiletries and supplies.

And we get every feedback from our explorers from the events, and yes we fix them!

“Its the journey, not the destination”

Our explorers asked us for the google coordinates, which we supplied. Then they tell us we turned the wrong way. No, its right, we said, and we brought them through a journey of astonishing view.

We made another turn, and the comms came up: “its a dead end up front, and we are heading in the opposite direction…” “Yeap, the road is not on google map my dear”

After that, there was no reception, stories and jokes are shared over comms, there was no more questions about gps coordinates, destination or timing, because it didn’t matter anymore. Now they understood what the journey really meant.

We will bring you into the labyrinth of Borneo, and no, we are not lost, we do not depend on google as we know the land.
