We have updated information that the following flights from Kuala Lumpur to Australia are likely to proceed:
✅ MH141 to Sydney on 24 April
We are seeking urgent confirmation from Malaysia Airlines about its flight schedule to Australia beyond these dates. We will continue to share information as soon as we have confirmed advice from the airline.
If any additional seats open up, Malaysia Airlines will advertise these for sale on its website: https://www.malaysiaairlines.com/au/en.html
The exemption for holders of expired Social Visit Passes will cease from 21 April 2021, and normal immigration processes will then apply. You will need to obtain an extension on your expired Social Visit Pass from Malaysian Immigration if you are travelling after 21 April 2021. See our previous post from 12 April for more information https://www.facebook.com/158113307710430/posts/1626286174226462/?d=n
New restrictions are in place for flights to Australia. Passengers aged 5 and older travelling to Australia must be tested for COVID-19 72 hours or less prior to departure, and display evidence of a negative test result at your port of departure. PCR testing is required. There is no flexibility on the currency of the test – if your test was more than 72 hours prior to the scheduled departure time of your first international flight, you will be unable to board your flight – so please manage this process carefully. Please ensure that the name, date of birth and passport number on your PCR test result matches the information on your passport.
Masks are now mandatory for all international flights into Australia, including within airports. For more details, read our post from 10 January: https://www.facebook.com/AusHCMalaysia/posts/1563773107144436
You can find general information on COVID-19 testing options in Malaysia on our website: https://malaysia.embassy.gov.au/klpr/covid19.html
During the CMCO, you will require police permission to cross roadblocks in order to travel to the airport, unless you are travelling to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) from within Selangor, Kuala Lumpur or Putrajaya. If you are travelling to KLIA from one of these three states and are stopped at a roadblock, you must show your plane ticket or boarding pass. Please refer to our post from 20 January for more information about obtaining police permission: https://www.facebook.com/AusHCMalaysia/posts/1565810773607336
Remember to complete the Australia Travel Declaration 72 hours before your departure. Further information is available at https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/australia-travel-declaration
If you are an Australian Permanent Resident or possess a Provisional Partner (subclass 309 or 820) visa and are flying to Australia you should carry a printed version of your original visa grant letter with you. If you no longer have a copy of your letter, you can obtain visa details online via the Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) tool: https://bit.ly/2JHNvqa
You should then print this document out, as your airline requires you show a physical copy of your grant letter or VEVO printout when at the check-in counter, and Malaysian immigration is wanting to see hard copy evidence of your residency to allow you to depart the country.
Passengers need to quarantine at their port of entry. Individual Australian states may also impose additional requirements, which could include an additional period of quarantine. Please check the requirements of both the port of entry and your final destination (if it is different) to ensure you understand and comply:
